Prior to the Council of Trent in 1545 there was no such thing as an agreed upon “Roman Catholic Bible.” Cardinal Ximenez (who died in 1517 - the very year Martin Luther nailed his 95 Thesis to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg) in the preface to his Complutensian Polyglot Bible described the 7 books of the Deutercanon as “books outside the canon.” He explains that their purpose is to be “received by the Church rather for the edification of the people than for the authoritative confirmation of ecclesiasitcal doctrines.” In essence, Ximenes’s position was: valuable and edifying for Christians, but outside the primary canon and insufficient by themselves to establish doctrine.

My Take Nikkei examined the actual filings and put a number on something the BIS already flagged as "shadow borrowing" back in March. These companies owe more off their balance sheets than on them, and the accounting rules let them keep it that way until the data centers go live. That's legal, but it means investors looking at quarterly earnings this week are seeing less than half the picture. Four of these five report earnings in the next two weeks. The reported debt will look manageable. The $1.65 trillion in footnotes won't make the headlines. But when those data centers start operating, the leases hit the books all at once. If AI demand comes in below projections, those facilities get marked down and the losses land on the investors and insurance policyholders who funded the construction through private credit and project bonds without realizing how much total exposure they were carrying. In Genesis 4:26 the Hebrew records that people “began to call upon the name of YHWH” (אָז הוּחַל לִקְרֹא בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה). The LXX renders this ἐπικαλεῖσθαι τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ - “to call upon the name of the Lord God.” In 1 Corinthians 1:2, the early Christians - within about 20–25 years of the resurrection - were already invoking the name of Jesus in the same way. Paul describes the universal church as those who “call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐπικαλουμένοις τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ). The early Christians did not create new language for a subordinate figure. They took the highest Old Testament expression of invoking the one true God (Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21; Rom. 10:13) and applied it directly and universally to Jesus Christ. This is not the language of mere honor. It is the language of divine worship.

You know what wrecked me when I was converting to Christianity? Jihad is literally the gospel in reverse. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. The gospel says Christ shed His blood for YOU. Jihad says you shed your blood for ALLAH. Jesus lays down His life to save His enemies. Jihad calls you to take the lives of enemies in pursuit of God's favor. Christianity says the Shepherd dies so the sheep can live. Jihad says the sheep die hoping the Shepherd accepts them. They are mirrors. One is grace, the other is striving. One says, "It is finished." The other says, "Do more." Jesus never asked me to earn God's love with my blood, he proved God's love by shedding His own. That's why the cross changed everything for me.
