We demonstrate that electrochemical control of Scholl reaction can differentiate arenium cation and radical cation pathways, providing the experimental basis to re-evaluate previously proposed mechanisms for certain substrates. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/an…
We wanted to triple-iodocyclize a tris-alkyne. ICl gave us chlorinated product instead. IBr? Scale-dependent iodo/bromination. IPy₂BF₄? Didn't cyclize at all. INO₃ solved it: multigram scale, >90% yields, no side reactions. pubs.acs.org/jacsat/article…
