On the first day of our conference, “Building Bridges & Breaking Barriers,” we were honored to host @RepJoeWilson , Republican Congressman from South Carolina. Rep. Wilson shared reflections from his recent visit to Damascus, including entering the Presidential Palace and meeting with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa. His remarks highlighted a significant moment in the evolving U.S.-Syria relationship and the importance of continued dialogue, stability, and mutual cooperation. Silicon Valley recently hosted a gathering of technology leaders, policymakers, and members of the Syrian American diaspora to discuss Syria’s digital and economic transition. At the SYNC Iftar, these conversations brought together voices from across the technology and policy communities exploring opportunities around Syria’s evolving digital and economic landscape. SAAPP was pleased to participate in the dialogue, which included a ministerial delegation from Syria’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, led by Minister Abdulsalam Haykal, alongside representatives from the U.S. public and private sectors.
