@howertonjosh Josh please give me a Bible verse for 2/3 faith. Or any verse that quantifies faith in any sort of way. Be careful you're not adding to the message of eternal salvation. It's not a commitment. Faith is simply faith. "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."

There are many things wrong with this post. 1) Why are we using Latin words to give meaning to the Greek word for faith, pistis? Instead of using the Latin language, we should study how the actual Greek word was used at the time the New Testament was written. 2) The term, “saving faith,” is never found in the Bible. In fact, there are never any adjectives or adverbs that go with faith in the New Testament when the context is eternal life. 3) The plan of salvation was never offered to the demons. James is a book written to believers about their post-salvation spiritual life. It has nothing to do with eternal salvation.

If I had evidence that someone was about to get in a car crash and kill themselves, it would provoke a lot of anxiety if I told them. But if my motives were to present another alternative that would save their life, that would be an act of love. Similarly, sharing the gospel (if that’s what this preacher was doing) isn’t a hate crime. It’s an act of love. Jesus spoke a lot about hell because he didn’t want anyone to go there.

If you erased the last minute of every NBA Finals game this year, the Spurs win the series 4-1 instead of the Knicks winning 4-1. That’s painful if you’re a Spurs fan.

Let’s stick with the actual words found in the Bible. “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:18). Condemnation is based upon unbelief……NOT upon living your life as a Christian. While he doesn’t give any indication that he is a believer, ultimately only God knows. It only takes one moment in time.

While I agree that his public statements are very concerning, hell is based upon never believing that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins. It only takes one moment in time to make that very important decision. Eternal salvation does not require commitment or to be a follower of Christ. These beliefs stem from Calvinism, which is false teaching. Ultimately, only God knows where He would send James’ soul if he were to die today.

I’m sorry you’ve been brainwashed into believing this. Islam is a cult that threatens anyone who dares to question what they’ve been told. The Hadiths portray Mohammed as a warlord and a pedophile. Not a “perfect role model.” Satan used Mohammed to devise a false, counterfeit religion whereby billions have been led astray. And sadly, they will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire for rejecting the love of God. Because rather than accepting the perfect atoning sacrifice for their sins, they tried to earn salvation through their own “good works” that do not measure up to God’s perfect standard. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3:16-18). I hope you make the most important decision of your lifetime. It takes less than one second to believe in Christ.

The military isn’t drawing any lines based on theology. They are simply doing their best to provide appropriate religious support to our troops. If Mormon troops want to ensure they have a Mormon chaplain (instead of a Baptist or Catholic one), it’s in their interest to not be listed as “Christian.”

It comes down to chaplain coverage for our troops. Christian military chaplains represent a broad range of denominations and traditions, typically grouped under a “Christian” category for administrative purposes. LDS troops want LDS chaplains. So they are their own category. If you really want to make change, then you must be okay with LDS troops having a non-LDS chaplain.
