George started his career on Wall Street in 1965 and with only a slide rule and calculator, he launched George Weiss & Associates in 1978, pledging the highest standards of integrity and fairness for employees and clients. Since then, the firm has flourished, attracting exceptional clients and talent alike, and cultivating an environment rooted in genuine partnership and trust. Winding down a firm with a 46-year history is a decision not taken lightly but one made with the utmost consideration for the welfare of our clients and employees. We want to extend a heartfelt thanks and sense of gratitude to all the clients, employees, partners, and friends we made along this journey. Bitcoin Moment Crypto markets have been focused for months on today’s potential announcement by the SEC of approval of spot bitcoin ETFs. On the path to this important moment, especially given the anticipation, there has been significant debate over whether adoption demand dynamics are already in the price and thus whether Bitcoin will face a ‘sell the news’ or ‘travel vs arrive’ problem if approval is announced today. Markets got a preview of that phenomenon yesterday afternoon as the SEC’s Twitter/X account was hacked and falsely announced approval. Perhaps more substantially than the trading phenomenon, this hack highlights the unfortunate but increasing trend towards misinformation in erstwhile authoritative channels. Ironically, we view bitcoin as an important piece of tokenization infrastructure that can contribute to reliable authentication, however moments like this will likely continue to accumulate – especially in an election year – on the way to an eventual more secure information infrastructure.
