@SandyofSuffolk When you see headlines of big increase in profits, like current quarter, they are mainly from trading, refinery margins and/or upstream exposure. It is rarely, if ever, "profit increase because we squeezed customers on forecourt".

@SandyofSuffolk Not really. They sell refined products (gasoline, diesel), not crude, and cost of products is higher than in 2010. Also forecourt cost base increased like for any business (salaries, business taxes, etc). Forecourt margins, incl non fuel (e.g. choc&crisps) are relatively flat.

@admcollingwood Part of it is the significant increase in parents/society pushing for fake diagnosis, e.g. adhd, that force costs on all of us. Example: Taxi costs for ASN child. It is actually very unfair to the children that do need it as when system breaks they will lose the benefit.
