Gonna be serious for a minute. Tomorrow, my whole family is going to church. 5 weeks after I went alone. The second week, my wife went. The 3rd week? My son and daughter. 4th week was their Spring Break and we were traveling. 5th week? Wife, son, daughter, and son's girlfriend are going. 5 weeks. Whole house has changed. What would have happened if my feelings from week one had pushed me away? Because it almost did. Week 1, I looked around the room. People celebrating and rejoicing. I felt so ashamed. So dirty. All these people shining and so pretty in faith. I looked at my hands and nails, dirty and stained from work. So I kept them in my pockets. I didn't have a Bible that first week.... but they were all reading theirs. I didn't know the songs.... but they all sang along. I'm standing there with demons on my shoulders telling me I'm not worthy. Telling me I would never be lovely like those folks.... I wanted to leave.... but Gavin was there with me, standing beside me watching his boss struggle with it all. Him and his dad thanked me for coming and told me they were proud of me. That was week 1. I heard a preacher online say " The closer you get to God, the dirtier you will feel. When you are under his divine light, all your flaws will show." Mine sure did. Week 2, a miracle happened for me and I turned it all over for him. Week 3 I was baptized. Week 4 we missed service from traveling. Week 5 is here. And here is the message... I'll be attending Victory Baptist Church in the morning at 10am. Service is at 11. If you are lost and feeling like you don't belong. Like you will be judged. Like your hands are dirty or maybe your soul... Come sit with me and mine. Come join us and we will learn together. I don't know what I am doing either and I am 6 weeks past time for a haircut. I won't ever be pretty in my faith, but I'll be in faith regardless. I don't care how lost you are or where you are in life. You are welcome to come sit with me if you got no one else. I can't teach you the Bible... that's gonna be their job.... but I can sure be the one standing beside you telling you them demons aren't gonna win today. So it's an open invitation. If you've got nowhere else to go, come with me. We'll learn together. Have a great night. Bo.

I assume you asked genuinely, so I’ll answer genuinely. I live in the country, but I’m certainly part of the demographic that you might see as “boring” like this. Here’s my Friday: I wake to the shouts and giggles of two little boys. Get some hugs and some coffee, now it’s time to make money. At about 1pm my sons busted into my office and asked me if I’d take them to play golf. I said yes because I’ve built a life in which I can. When we get home, I finish work. Later, we have dinner as a family (chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes, it was 🔥). My sons ranked their days on a scale from 1-10 like we do and they said today was a “10.” Whatever high yall city folk get from “going out,” I got it from that. Then I played basketball with my sons. We watched a little TV on the couch together. Now it’s bath time, bed time, Bible and prayers. As my oldest closed his eyes, he told me how he makes his friends pray before they eat lunch. I felt that “high” again. Kids are asleep. So now it’s time for mom and dad to do some fun things that married people do. This is my Friday night. And I’ll be absolutely WIPED by 10pm - it was a full day. And while it might sound insane to you right now, I wouldn’t trade places with any person on Earth. I have what men search for all their lives; what men would sacrifice everything to have. Some have lost it chasing the things you’re suggesting I’m missing out on. I mean this with all the love in the world. I’m not defensive. But I know with certainty, what you find rewarding will change the instant you are holding your first child in your arms. Well I suppose I learned last summer that life is short, definitely too short for holding grudges.  So when @GamebredFighter said he wanted to sit down and break bread of course I took him up on it.  Today he came to Wisconsin, sat down had some dinner and chatted it up.  Turns out we have more in common than different 👊👊👊  Felt great to bury the hatchet and make a new friend.  Life is too short to hold grudges, bury hatchets and move one with your life.  So glad Jorge was able to come to Wisconsin today.

One of the most frustrating arguments I see is that millennials (ages ~30-45) are just stupid "youngsters" who don't know anything about Middle East wars when we are the exact generation who fought them. These soldiers were us, our spouses, and our friends. We all know people who died in or returned traumatized from these conflicts, not to mention the money we've had to spend on them, without their objectives being met. It was hard for us to see, and we have concerns about it repeating. Still, I hope that I am wrong. I hope more than anything that my concerns are invalid, that this is the one time this kind of intervention works and works quickly. As always, I only want the best for our country and the brave men and women in our military.

I was in Bible college the week before 9/11. Testimony service. Folding chairs. Fluorescent lights. Mandatory attendance. Everyone expected the usual: clean stories, safe sins, spiritual résumés. Then a tattooed giant walked to the front with his wife. Former heroin addict. Former bouncer. She’d worked the streets. Met him through her pimp. Both of them gripping Bibles like flotation devices. They sang. Badly. Then he preached for five minutes. No polish. No structure. No seminary cadence. The hermeneutics professor winced. The English teacher checked the clock. But the altar filled. Heaven moved while the educated missed it. That moment never left me. Because it exposed something most Christians don’t want to admit: God does His best work in people who are still a mess. That’s why Jelly Roll scares the industry. Pills. Prison. Years burned down. Then he grabbed the Grammy mic and said the one name you’re not supposed to say out loud if you want to keep a career. “I love you, Lord.” The crowd cheered. The suits froze. They always do. Because God isn’t finished with him yet. And unfinished people are dangerous. Moses wasn’t Moses overnight. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew. Rage took over. Looked left. Looked right. God doesn’t say, “You’re finished.” He says, “My grace is sufficient.” Your Bible reeks of in-progress redemption. Exodus doesn’t hide the murder. Acts doesn’t hide the coats. KJV. No polish. No PR team. That tattooed couple went home after chapel. Monday came. Cravings stayed. Memories stayed. God stayed. Jelly Roll will wake up tomorrow with the same demons and the same industry pressure to shut up. God will still be working. You’re not disqualified. You’re under construction. Same clay. Same Potter. Same wheel. Build anyway. Fall anyway. Get up anyway.
