RELEASE: SOUTHCOM Leadership Arrives in Venezuela to Coordinate Earthquake Relief Support U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Kevin J. Jarrard arrived in Caracas, Venezuela, today, to oversee Department of War support to Venezuela earthquake relief efforts. Maj. Gen. Jarrard is serving as the senior U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) official on the ground and is working closely with partners to plan, coordinate, and direct the U.S. military’s unparalleled logistical and operational capabilities to support the rapid, life-saving movement of response personnel, equipment, and humanitarian assistance into affected areas. SOUTHCOM is supporting Department of State-led U.S. government relief operations in Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that struck the nation June 24, 2026. The interim Government of Venezuela formally requested U.S. support following the earthquakes. He contado, a simple mirada, mas de 500 especialistas rescatistas y cerca de 20 perritos de rescate que ya van vía Venezuela a apoyar las operaciones de rescate. Ojalá puedan ser mas. Gracias infinitas.

🔴 El Gobierno del Presidente @PetroGustavo dispuso el alistamiento del equipo USAR COL-1 para apoyar las labores de búsqueda y rescate en Venezuela. El grupo está conformado por más de 60 especialistas, cuatro binomios caninos y 12 toneladas de equipos, listo para brindar asistencia humanitaria al pueblo venezolano.

🇫🇷 À la demande du Président de la République @Elysee, la France déploie un détachement du 4ème et 7ème régiment d'instruction et d'intervention de Sécurite civile (@riisc_7) rattaché à la Brigade des militaires de la sécurité civile (BMSC), spécialisée dans le secours en milieu effondré (USAR), à la suite du violent séisme qui a frappé le #Venezuela 🚒👩‍🚒 Composée de spécialistes du sauvetage-déblaiement, d'équipes médicales et cynotechniques🐕, cette unité vient renforcer les capacités des secours locaux pour rechercher, localiser et extraire les victimes ensevelies sous les décombres, comme elle l'avait fait lors du séisme en Turquie en 2023. La France dispose de plusieurs équipes USAR classifiées par les Nations unies, reconnues pour leur haut niveau d'expertise. En autonomie complète, elles sont en mesure d'être projetées en quelques heures avec l'ensemble de leurs moyens opérationnels afin d'intervenir dans les environnements les plus dégradés. Cette mission témoigne de l'engagement de la France au service de la solidarité internationale. STATEMENT ON U.S. MILITARY SUPPORT TO VENEZUELA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF: As directed by the Department of War, U.S. Southern Command is currently working with the Department of State to support U.S. government relief operations in Venezuela in response to yesterday's devastating earthquakes. Our joint forces are moving quickly to bring the unmatched airlift, logistics, and lifesaving capabilities of the U.S. military to help save lives and support the Government of Venezuela during this crisis. The command has established an operational planning team that includes experienced subject matter experts from the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, who are advising staff and leadership responsible for disaster relief planning and mission-related decisions.
