The news that former NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is being considered to head Destination Canada is an absolute mockery of institutional integrity. Destination Canada is a federal Crown corporation entirely funded by taxpayers, responsible for over a billion dollars in economic activity. Turning this massive agency into a private retirement prize for a career partisan politician who just led his party to its worst election defeat in history is a shameless act of cronyism. This transparent backscratching arrangement exposes the true, corrupt nature of the federal patronage pipeline. For years, the political class has operated as a closed circle where backroom loyalty and propping up minority governments are rewarded with premium taxpayer-funded payouts. Tourism industry professionals are rightly calling this potential appointment a direct insult to professional merit. Treating high-level state organizations as a personal clearinghouse for political favours proves that the establishment always protects its own. The system is completely rotten.

Never make a promise you do not intend to keep. President Trump gave the Iranian people a historic hope that no leader of the free world had ever offered before. They believed his word.
