The Ambani, Adani, Birla... all run prominent schools across India but that's not their core business & largely run as CSR Activity. And this kind of investment in education sector is much required & most welcome. So a PE fund buying a prominent school shouldn't raise any concerns but this line, "To improve EBITDA, the new owners may cut operating costs, hike fees". Now what's operating cost in a School? Student facilities? Cost of teaching Staff? So students will pay higher fees with lower facilities & qualities of teaching to improve the profitability of the investors.

Feb 2009, We were having breakfast at Taj Colombo. In came #MSDhoni (Indian Cricket team on a ODI Series with Sri lanka was staying in there). We wished him & requested for a photo. Dhoni said, Sir you finish your breakfast, I am around only. After breakfast We were having tea when He came to our table & asked Sir, If you have finished? We had photographs & shook hand. Y'day at 5 PM the temperature at Hanover Maryland, a Mid-Atlantic US State was 38°C, feel like 45°C, scorching heat. It was even hotter for someone like me who cane from northern India & had experienced even 50°C. This year over 2000 deaths been recorded in France due to severe heat. The annual average temperature of Paris is summer highs averaging 25°C and winter lows dropping near 3°C. Here in Baltimore, summer highs averaging 30°C & winter lows dropping near 2°C. Quite similar but hardly any life lost because of severe heat wave, Simply because every household here is AC. Time for Europe to accept Climate Change and get Air-conditioned.

Being a Punjabi, I always been fascinated by turban but never tried it because I always been clean shaven. And I beleived that a when a grown up person wears turban, it should only be with full beard. And finally when during Covid I could grow beard, I wore a turban with pride. For centuries Turban for us not only has Social & Religious relevance but also Spiritual Reverence. It has to be in its complete form. I was quite offended When in that movie Raja Hindustani, a clean shaven Johney Lever wore a turban. Similarly when clean shaven politicians wear turban, they look quite out of place.

WhatsApp has introduced username feature to allow users to connect without sharing their phone numbers. Users can reserve a unique username through settings. I did that & it's across the social media platforms owned by meta like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram & Threads. Meanwhile India asked WhatsApp to pause username feature rollout over fraud concerns. Valid concerns and in fact I used my US number to get my Username.

2 days back I was at Zayed International Airport Abu Dhabi. I saw 2 young boys making some reel, from appearance they looked like Indian or Pakistani. Within a minute 2 Policemen approached them, politely asked them to to accompany. Both boys without creating any scene followed the policemen. Don't know & not sure what happened to them. The guy sitting next to me told that in UAE Public Nuisance Violations can cost as much as Dh20,000 or they will be prisoned for long. I hope the boys don't have to suffer much but this reel making at public places is such big nuisance.

2004-5, I was working in Philips. One evening Philips Global Audio Head was in Mumbai and He invited some of us for a dinner. He was returning from Tokyo & briefed us about his long meeting with his Sony counterpart. He said We drank all night and discussed just one issue, Philips & Sony are not any ordinary market players, they are the market. They both have thousands of patents, literally invented everything in the Audio market and they were shocked that a rank outsider like Apple would come, introduce iTunes and iPods & change the entire market. And the change so badly hit them that both Philips & SONY, kind of exited Audio business. Jack Welch of GE rightly advised "Change before you have to".

An average Indian, when abroad starts converting the cost of everything into INR. And Indians after staying abroad for a longer duration on ther return to India start reverse counting..this product or service is available in India at this price in INR but costs so many dollars or GBP and actually feel good about the cost difference. The one expense, possibly the first one as soon as you land at an American Airport is that 6 dollar you have to pay for the trolly. As typical Indian if you need 3 trollys, you try to adjust that in 2 and as We experienced y'day at Washington DC Airport, the quality of trolley isn't great either and it's so much pain to push that overloaded trolly till the car park. It pains more because We aren't used to pay for trollys.

When We travel from Chandigarh to T3 to catch a flight, the tiredness level of traveling from Chandigarh to Delhi bypass and from Delhi bypass to T3 is almost same, on peak hours, the drive within Delhi is completely exhaustive. The Dwarka Expressway, 29.1 km, 16-lane access controlled highway in the NCR is such an amazing experience. Smooth travel, comfortable drive and amazing work of Art in the tunnel. It actually recharges you for the long flight.

हम बिहार में रहते थे! हमारे एक पड़ोसी की मृत्यु हो गई, उनका एक ही बेटा था जिसकी बैंक में नई नौकरी लगी थी! बिहार में पिता की मृत्यु के बाद सर मुंडाने की परंपरा है, पर उस पुत्र ने कहा कि उसकी नई नौकरी लगी है तो वो सर नहीं मुंडवा सकता! मुझे ध्यान है कि ये मुद्दा इतना बड़ा हो गया है कि ऊस परिवार का लगभग सामाजिक बहिष्कार हो गया! आज मैं अनंत अंबानी को देख रहा हूं वो तिरुपति गए, श्रद्धा पूर्वक केश अर्पित किए! मन में कोई शंका ही नहीं की मैं भारत की सबसे बड़ी कंपनी का डायरेक्टर हूं, लोग मुझे रुढिवादी तो नहीं कहेंगे? अनंत अंबानी जैसे सफल और महत्वपूर्ण युवाओं का अपनी जडों से वापस जुड़ना एक अच्छा संदेश देता है!

दिल्ली पुलिस को चाहिए जो कॉकरोच जंतर-मंतर पर रेंग रहे हैं, उनपे भी पानी का छिड़काव करते रहें, गर्मी बहुत है!
