𝗔 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴! 🤝 @bbforpeace is proud to announce the formalisation of our strategic partnership with the @PEPNET through the signing of a 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗠𝗼𝗨). Although both BBFORPEACE and PEPNET have been collaborating since 2018, this milestone marks the beginning of a more structured and intentional partnership dedicated to advancing peace education, youth leadership, research, capacity building, policy advocacy, and collaborative programme development. The meeting was more than the signing of a document, it was a celebration of a shared vision, mutual trust, and a collective commitment to building peaceful, resilient communities across Nigeria and beyond. Thoughtful discussions, reflections on partnership, and a shared resolve to translate agreements into meaningful action made the occasion truly memorable. As we embark on this new chapter, we remain committed to transforming this partnership into impactful programmes, stronger coalitions, and sustainable solutions that promote peace, dialogue, and inclusive development. Together, we are building stronger foundations for peace, one partnership at a time. We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and team of PEPNET for their collaboration and look forward to the impactful journey ahead. #PartnershipForPeace #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
“Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s peace.” -Unknown Welcome to a fresh start! Worry often keeps us focused on what might happen instead of what we can do today. While we can't always control the future, we can choose how we respond in the present. Peace begins within. It grows when we replace fear with hope, anxiety with action, and uncertainty with trust in the journey ahead. Every small step toward understanding, kindness, and resilience strengthens not only ourselves but also the communities around us. As you go about your activities in this new week, @bbforpeace would like to encourage you to choose peace over worry. Protect your mind, nurture your well-being, and focus on the positive impact you can make right now. Together, let's build a culture where peace starts from within and extends to the world around us. Wishing you a #peaceful and prosperous week ahead. #Yes2Peace #PeopleBuildingPeace #MondayMotivation
𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧! As we step into this new month, @bbforpeace wishes you renewed hope, fresh opportunities, and the courage to keep building a more peaceful and inclusive world. Every act of kindness, every dialogue, and every effort toward understanding brings us one step closer to lasting peace.Together, let's continue to inspire positive change, strengthen our communities, and champion a future where everyone can thrive. Here's to a month filled with purpose, progress, and #peace. Happy New Month from all of us at BBFORPEACE! 💙 #HappyNewMonth

Local violence, often manifesting in ethnic clashes, resource-based disputes, or community mobilisation through armed groups, frequently escapes the reach or adequate under-standing of national governments. Similarly, conflicts with transnational features, such as cross-border insurgencies, trafficking, and refugee flows, necessitate regional coordination to prevent spill overs and to mount coherent responses. Regional organisations, due to their geographical and political proximity, provide frameworks for collective action and normative enforcement that transcend state boundaries. Local actors, simultaneously, embody contextual knowledge, legitimacy, and direct stakes in peace building, which are crucial to achieving sustainable outcomes. Thus, multi-tiered engagement encompassing local ownership complemented by national and regional partnership has emerged as a preferred paradigm for addressing the layered peace and security challenges in West Africa… Read more here: tinyurl.com/2mydtk69 Wishing you a great and #peaceful weekend. #BBFORPEACEWeekendReads #WAPSeD2025 #PeopleBuilldingPeace
📢 𝗕𝗕𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗦𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 We are thrilled to announce that @bbforpeace, the Regional Secretariat of @gppac in West Africa is implementing the CLIMPSE project aimed at advancing locally-led climate-sensitive peacebuilding. Climate change continues to reshape communities across the globe, and local peacebuilders are often the first to witness its impacts and the first to respond. Yet, despite their critical role in addressing climate-related challenges, their experiences and solutions are too often overlooked in global climate, peace, and security discussions. The 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗦𝗘 initiative is changing this narrative by connecting local expertise with regional and global policymaking, ensuring that community-driven peacebuilding solutions inform decisions beyond local borders. Through 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗦𝗘, two key goals will be advanced: 🌍 Strengthening the Capacity of Local Peacebuilders By deepening understanding of the connections between climate, peace, and security, local peacebuilders will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to design and implement climate-sensitive peacebuilding initiatives. Through peer learning and collaboration within the GPPAC network, participants will exchange experiences and strengthen their collective response to climate-related security challenges. 🤝 Amplifying Local Knowledge to Influence Policy CLIMPSE creates pathways for local peacebuilders to engage meaningfully with regional and global policymakers. This ensures that climate-sensitive peacebuilding policies, practices, and systems are informed by the realities, experiences, and solutions emerging directly from affected communities. BBFORPEACE remains committed to promoting sustainable peace, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring that local voices are at the forefront of shaping climate, peace, and security policies for a more peaceful and climate-resilient future. #CLIMPSE #Youth4Peace #ClimateChampions #ClimatePeaceSecurity #PeopleBuildingPeace
𝗕𝗕𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗬𝗣𝗦 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘆 𝗞𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗸𝗵𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 This week, @bbforpeace, represented by our Senior Program Officer, is joining global leaders, young peacebuilders, and partners at the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗬𝗣𝗦) taking place from 28–30 July 2026 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. As the world marks a decade since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2250, this Dialogue represents a pivotal moment to move the Youth, Peace and Security agenda from policy to practice. Together with youth leaders, UN agencies, governments, and development partners, we are contributing to critical conversations on how to strengthen meaningful youth participation in peacebuilding, protect civic space, and accelerate national and regional implementation of YPS commitments. Over three days, participants will co-create practical solutions to: ✨ Bridge global YPS commitments with local action. ✨ Accelerate National Action Plans and regional implementation. ✨ Protect civic space for young peacebuilders. ✨ Explore emerging priorities, including digital peacebuilding, climate security, and sustainable financing for youth-led peace initiatives. This Strategic Dialogue will help shape the YPS 2035 Roadmap for Collective Action and contribute to the UN Secretary-General's forthcoming report and the Second Independent Progress Study on Youth, Peace and Security. Special thanks to @GPPAC for making this possible through the ‘Connections for Peace’ project supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands, @MinBZ. BBFORPEACE remains committed to amplifying the voices of young peacebuilders and advancing inclusive, sustainable peace through collaboration, innovation, and action. #Youth4Peace #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
𝟔𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭: 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 The Summit convened against a backdrop of significant regional strain. West Africa faces sustained expansion of terrorism and violent extremism across the Sahel and its coastal spillover, a deepening institutional rupture with Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger following their formation of the Alliance of Sahel States, and a widening perception that ECOWAS has drifted from its founding economic integration mandate toward a predominantly punitive political posture. ECOWAS figures recorded more than 450 attacks across the region in 2025, causing nearly 1,900 deaths alongside significant population displacement. The Authority itself expressed deep concern over the continued deterioration of the security situation, particularly in the Sahel and Lake Chad Basin, marked by attacks, kidnapping, and disruptive operations by terrorist armed groups, insurgents, and bandits causing loss of life, destruction of property, and mass displacement. These realities framed the Summit's deliberations on institutional reform and regional cohesion. The 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, held in Freetown on 19 July 2026, advanced the region's integration agenda through key leadership transitions, the adoption of the Compact for the Future of Regional Integration, and renewed commitments to peace, security, and democratic governance. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal assumed the ECOWAS Chairmanship, while General Birame Diop was appointed to lead the ECOWAS Commission from September 2026. For civil society organizations, these outcomes create substantive avenues for deeper engagement. CSOs are well positioned to strengthen policy dialogue by supporting the domestication of ECOWAS protocols and contributing evidence-based research to regional decision-making. The Summit's renewed emphasis on youth reinforces the Youth, Peace and Security agenda, opening space for leadership development, youth-led peacebuilding initiatives, and stronger participation in governance processes. Its focus on resilience and sustainable development similarly supports climate-sensitive conflict prevention and natural resource governance work. The Summit's call for coordinated regional action favors cross-border programming, joint research, and collaborative early-warning and response systems among CSO networks. Meanwhile, the newly adopted gender parity declaration creates fresh opportunities to advance women's political participation, complementing the Women, Peace and Security agenda. To capitalize on these developments, CSOs should align organizational strategies with ECOWAS priorities, pursue consortium-based partnerships to access regional funding, and invest in rigorous evidence generation to strengthen advocacy, accountability, and long-term policy influence across West Africa. #PeopleBuildingPeace

Across communities, young people are proving that they are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the peacebuilders of today. At @bbforpeace, we celebrate the courage, creativity, and commitment of young changemakers who are transforming challenges into opportunities for unity and sustainable peace. Through advocacy, community engagement, and leadership, they continue to inspire positive change and strengthen social cohesion. Together, we are building communities where every voice matters, every action counts, and peace becomes a shared responsibility. #Youth4Peace #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
“If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that’s his problem. Love and peace are eternal.” - John Lennon Happy New Week, Dear All! As you commence this week, @bbforpeace would like to remind you that love and peace are not relics of the past, they are timeless values that shape a better future. As you go about your activities, you may meet people who may dismiss love and peace as clichés left behind in the Sixties. That's their perspective. Don't join them. Always remember that love inspires change, and peace sustains progress. Wishing you a beautiful, productive, and #peaceful week ahead. #Yes2Peace #MondayMotivation #PeopleBuildingPeace

What would peace look like if we designed it around people's everyday realities instead of waiting for conflict to end? The Women, Peace and Security agenda invites us to rethink peace—not as a destination, but as a continuous practice of inclusion, dignity, accountability, and shared responsibility. At @bbforpeace, we are committed to strengthening local leadership, supporting women's voices, and building communities where peace is lived, not just discussed. Because lasting peace is created by people who choose dialogue over division, every single day. #WomenPeaceSecurity #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
Did You Know? The Women, Peace and Security agenda is not only about increasing the number of women in peace processes. It is about changing how #peace is built. Communities thrive when peace efforts are rooted in inclusion, justice, and the lived experiences of those most affected by conflict. Women's leadership strengthens early warning systems, community resilience, dialogue, and long-term recovery. At @bbforpeace, we believe sustainable peace begins with listening, collaborating, and creating spaces where every voice shapes lasting solutions. #WomenPeaceSecurity #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
Peace is not built in conference rooms alone. It is built in classrooms, markets, online spaces, football fields, and neighbourhoods—where young people make choices every day that shape the future. Security is stronger when youth are trusted to lead conversations, solve local challenges, and challenge violence with ideas, innovation, and action. At @bbforpeace, we believe that young people are not an audience for peacebuilding—they are its architects. #Youth4Peace #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
“The practice of peace and reconciliation is one of the most vital and artistic of human actions.” Thich Nhat Hanh Welcome to a fresh start! At @bbforpeace, we believe that lasting peace begins with individuals who choose love over hate, dialogue over division, and community over conflict. As you commence this new week, @bbforpeace would like to encourage you to be the voice that heals. Be the heart that unites. Be the change that inspires peace. Together, we can create a future where reconciliation is not the exception but the norm. Wishing you a beautiful, fruitful, and #peaceful week ahead. #Yes2Peace #PeopleBuildingPeace #MondayMotivation

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲. A failed harvest is rarely just about food. It can mean children leaving school, families relocating, livelihoods disappearing, and communities competing over increasingly limited resources. By the time these pressures become security concerns, they have often been building for months—or even years. Climate resilience is therefore more than an environmental goal. It is an investment in social stability, economic security, and lasting peace. At @bbforpeace, we believe that when communities have equitable access to land, water, climate information, and sustainable livelihoods, they are better equipped to manage shocks without allowing them to evolve into crises. The conversation on climate and security should begin long before disaster strikes—because preventing instability is far more effective than responding to it. #ClimatePeaceSecurity #PeopleBuildingPeace
We often ask how to respond when conflict erupts. We ask that question far less when women warn us that conflict is brewing. Across many communities, women are the first to notice rising tensions—in schools, homes, markets, places of worship, and neighbourhoods. These early signals rarely make headlines, yet they often determine whether a disagreement is resolved through dialogue or grows into violence. At @bbforpeace, we believe that building peace is not only about negotiating ceasefires. It is also about paying attention to the people who see risks before everyone else does. If we want more effective peace and security strategies, we should value early warning as much as emergency response—and ensure that the voices identifying those warning signs are heard, respected, and acted upon. #WomenPeaceSecurity #PeopleBuildingPeace #LeaveNoOneBehind
