4 years ago, both of my grandparents passed away, starting a court battle that's put 200 years of Texas history for sale. The estate includes hundreds of acres near Marble Falls, TX, that have been in my family since before Texas was Texas. Stephen F. Austin himself granted this land to my ancestor, Captain Jesse Burnam, in the 1820s, one of the original "Old Three Hundred" families. There are stories of him fighting off Native Americans and fighting in wars! That land stayed in our family for five generations. There's a state historical marker on it, placed by the Texas Historical Commission in 2014. My family has never had money in the bank kind of wealth. But I wouldn't sell this land for millions of dollars. Some things matter more than money, and history and nature are two of them. My aunt, the executor, has managed this estate about as badly as it's possible to manage one, burning hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees fighting my mom and uncle, to the point that land had to be sold just to cover the bill. Yes, there was a will involved, but it's complicated... Now, more than 150 acres of it are listed for sale by my aunt. My aunt has no heirs of her own tied to this place. And beautiful, spring fed land that survived the Texas Revolution, five generations of my family, and a war with Mexico might get bulldozed for a subdivision. What I'm hoping for is that it doesn't end with a developer. If you know a rancher, a conservation buyer, a family, or a land trust looking for real Texas Hill Country land with real history, let me know.

We need to move raw crude, not gasoline. Oil to Thunder Bay is useless. No refinery. You could ship it (even in Winter) most of the way to Sarnia, but the narrow channels around the choke points of the lakes do freeze over (eg no St Laurence seaway) + loading / unloading ships at -30 is challenging to put it mildly, pipelines best / cheapest way to move oil.

An economy built on world‑class natural resources, strategic geography, and human capital has been deliberately downgraded into a housing‑addicted, low‑productivity balance sheet recession risk, and the people who did it still show up on panels calling this “resilience.” For years, Canada’s comparative advantages in energy, resources, and industrial capacity were something to apologize for, regulate to death, or tax into oblivion, while policy and capital chased the illusion that you could mortgage and virtue‑signal your way to prosperity. The result is a country flirting with a liquidity trap, where even lower rates may barely move a real economy suffocated by over‑priced assets, under‑built productive capital, and households too damaged to borrow again. The real scandal is not that Canada faces secular stagnation; it is that the elite engineered it, denied it, wrapped it in climate rhetoric, and now blame external shocks while the data scream that this is a made‑in‑Canada crisis. To be clear, Canada’s problems are not the result of President Trump! If Canada’s elite will not finally admit that decades of attacking its own strengths, worshipping its own bubbles, and treating industrial policy as a morality play have left the country one downturn away from a full balance sheet recession, then they are not guardians of the national interest, they are custodians of decline, and at this point, there really is no sense crying over spilt milk, only over the refusal to fix the mess they made.

This chart is bearish to me- inventory only down 1-200mm bbls after nearly 2 months ~2-3mm bbl/d? That tells me oil is still being produced and going into storage and likely price effect is causing demand to drop. If and when the straight reopens, we will get back to normal much quicker than I think people are expecting. The forward price curve looks rational in This context.

Great company, tough position geographically- at end of pipe. Also, Higher oil prices improves oil economics, and there is always gas that comes with it. Nat gas producers are competing against oil for take away capacity who can make returns with negative gas prices. We will have surplus gas until there is a material change in North American take away/ (data center) demand. My guess all Nat Gas producers are dead money until 2030

Trump threatening to “take out the entire country in one night" and bombing Iran's power plants and bridges was actually one of his greatest plays of all time. I'm not exaggerating. But most people lost their minds over Trump's recent comments and post. And that's because they lack a negotiation filter to make sense of him. Trump has been aggressively scope-setting--establishing a ceiling so high and gruesome that everything below it would eventually look like a reasonable outcome. I would even argue that this ceasefire wouldn’t have seemed reasonable at all had we not have had Trump’s Easter post. Think about it. Imagine Trump never having threatened to blow Iran off the map, and the world spending 48 hours ruminating about it. A ceasefire would’ve seemed mediocre. Not anymore. It feels like Trump stopped WWIII. He put the image in everyone’s head that Iran was going to get sent back to the stone age. That didn’t happen, so a ceasefire and more negotiations seem like such a big win. And here’s another move that nobody is talking about. Each time Trump extended a deadline (and he extended four of them) he wasn’t just buying time. He was letting the architecture get bigger. Deadline one: US-Iran bilateral. Reopen the strait or face strikes. Deadline two: Pakistan enters the channel. The conversation is no longer two parties; it’s three. Deadline three: Pakistan hosts Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in Islamabad. Now it’s a regional table. Deadline four: the “Islamabad Accord” framework--a named document with regional backing and two phases. By the time tonight arrived, Trump hadn’t just been negotiating with Iran. He’d been building a coalition of every major regional stakeholder around a shared interest in the outcome. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have wanted Iran contained for decades. Egypt and Turkey wanted regional stability and a seat at the table. Pakistan wanted the credibility of brokering a historic deal. In tonight’s post, Trump did something extraordinary: he announced the ceasefire “on behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East.” He’s not brokering a US-Iran deal anymore.
