Last night at the White House Correspondents' Dinner — chaos broke out. President Trump, First Lady Melania, Vice President Vance, and most of the Cabinet were in attendance when a gunman — 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California — armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives — charged through a security checkpoint and opened fire. One Secret Service officer was struck by gunfire, but his ballistic vest protected him. He has since been released from the hospital. Charlie Kirk's widow Erika was among the attendees and was escorted away in tears. Our hearts go out to her. Franklin Graham was there as well. The suspect is in custody. Preliminary findings suggest he was targeting administration officials. Thank God our President, our leaders, and all those in attendance are safe. These are unsettling days. But Scripture tells us this shouldn't surprise us. "In the last days, perilous times shall come." — 2 Timothy 3:1 That word "perilous" comes from the Greek word chalepos — used only twice in the New Testament. Once here — and once in Matthew 8:28 to describe demon-possessed men so fierce and violent that no one could pass that way. Paul wasn't describing mere inconvenience. He was describing times that are fierce, savage, dangerous — and at times overwhelming. Times like right now. So what do we do? WE PRAY. Pray for our President. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our nation. Pray for our pastors and churches. Pray for the protection of the innocent — and pray for boldness to preach the Gospel now more than ever. This is not a time to panic. This is a time to PRAY. Matt, the best thing you can do is lead them to know God. How we think about God affects every area of our lives. A year after highschool spent in a good Bible college, you have one close by, will lay the foundation for any direction they go. It will also allow them to meet others who are seeking God. If you are able to pay for it, that is great. Check now for the cost. Some Bible colleges are universities as well. Secular universities will suck God right out of your child. Avoid them for your most precious possessions.

Depends on who or what is the object of your prayers. See 1 Kings 18. The prophets of Baal vs the prophet of God. Whose prayer was heard? James says “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16), however the righteous person would pray only to the one who makes him righteous.

@JCRyle How we should treat the accursed - 1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”
