Worsening Leadership Crisis in the Country Now Evident The ultimate cost of uncompassionate leadership, as evident in the country today, is turning citizens’ frustration into deep, volatile resentment. It is even more traumatising when the leader presiding over that collapse demonstrates clear incapacity and a lack of compassion. The government and people of Oyo State, more than 50 days after the abduction of the schoolchildren without any tangible effort toward their rescue, should rightly feel bitter and abandoned. Since this unfortunate incident, I have spoken publicly about it twice, including appealing directly to the kidnappers to release the children. I also called the Governor twice to assure him of my solidarity, understanding that this issue is not just an Oyo problem but a Nigerian tragedy. On Friday, July 3, I decided to travel to Ibadan with Prof. Pat Utomi to express solidarity with the Governor, as more than 50 days had elapsed without the rescue of the children and with numerous others still being held captive across the country. During our two-hour meeting, I shared my experience in addressing insecurity as Governor of Anambra State. I recalled how President Olusegun Obasanjo, and later Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, would personally call us several times whenever we faced major security challenges. But, to my utmost shock, I discovered that, contrary to my assumption that they had been in regular communication over the matter, Governor Seyi Makinde had not received a single call from President Bola Tinubu. I remember the only case of a school kidnapping during President Goodluck Jonathan’s era - the Chibok girls. It drew local and international attention. Even though the security agencies provided almost daily updates on their efforts, Nigerians and the rest of the world were outraged that it took President Jonathan over two weeks to call the then State chief Executive. I vividly recall that the current President, Bola Tinubu, led a team of vocal critics who called for President Jonathan’s immediate resignation over the incident, citing his delay in calling the state governor. That call for IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION should actually be the case in this matter. Today, under President Tinubu, there have been more than 13 school kidnappings, yet the President has found it difficult to call the affected state’s chief executive after more than 50 days (over 7 weeks). This is outrageous. I suspect the same may also have been the case in other school kidnapping incidents. I cannot imagine any issue more important than the lives of our kidnapped children, their teachers, and the many other Nigerians being held captive across the country. It is now an indisputable fact that governance has completely collapsed under this administration. The situation reflects a total lack of capacity and compassion, compounded by glaring insensitivity. Amid such an apparent display of incompetence, the President should either resign or, at the very least, abstain from seeking re-election for the sake of our dear country. This call is patriotic, not political. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
FROM CAPTIVITY TO FREEDOM: HE WAS BROUGHT IN BOUND, BUT JESUS SET HIM FREE! For two years, this dear brother endured severe spiritual affliction that left him in a state of mental instability. The attacks intensified, and just one week ago, his condition became critical. For seven days, he could neither eat nor speak. At times, he became completely unresponsive, as though lifeless. His family had no choice but to bring him to the June Miracle Service bound hand and foot for his own safety. But when the power of God moved, everything changed! As the Word was ministered, his sister noticed the first signs of restoration; he began calling family members by their names again. Then came the prophetic declaration by God’s servant, Apostle Joshua Selman: "Loose him, and let him go!" In an instant, every chain was broken. The brother who had been brought in bound stood free, speaking, responding, and completely restored by the power of Jesus Christ! Jesus is still delivering the oppressed and setting captives free! We return ALL the glory to God! Celebrate Jesus! Hallelujah! Did you receive God's touch during the recently concluded June Miracle Service? I have resisted the urge to comment on the ruling of Hon Mr Justice Dashen of the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja on the NDC matter until I read the judgement. Having read the judgement I am just wondering why the learned trial judge agreed to set the judgement his lordship gave in December 2025 wherein INEC the only Defendant in that case was ordered to register NDC as a political party. That order was obeyed and NDC registered as a political party. Now an association known as Peace Movement Party PMP was never a party to that judgement. So when an application was filed on the 5th May 2026, the application had two prayers. Praye on3 was for extension of time to apply to set aside the said judgement and an order setting aside the said judgment. The learned trial judge in the ruling under review set out the two prayers in the motion in the ruling but his lordship did not consider at all prayer one that deals with extension of time to apply to have the judgment set aside. Why. Nobody can hadzard a guess. But was his lordship right. I do not think so. The principle of law is well established that where a person seeks extension of time within which to apply to set aside a judgment entered in his absence, the applicant must satisfy two conditions, namely good and substantial reasons for the failure to appear or defend the action; and show that there is a prima facie defence on the merits, usually by exhibiting a proposed statement of defence disclosing triable issues. These two conditions are conjunctive, not disjunctive. In other words, both conditions must co-exist before the court can exercise its discretion in favour of the applicant. Failure to satisfy either is fatal. The Supreme Court in Williams vs Hope Rising Voluntary Funds Society held that an applicant seeking to set aside a judgment entered in default must: show good reasons for the default; and disclose a defence on the merits. In fact the first hurdle must be crossed before a consideration can be given to the second question. The discretion of the court is exercised only where both requirements are met. In Nalsa & Team Associates vs. NNPC, the Supreme Court reaffirmed that the applicant must satisfy the court as to: the reason for the default; and the existence of a defence raising triable issues. In Skenconsult (Nig.) Ltd. vs Ukey, even though principally dealing with judgments entered without jurisdiction or without service, the Supreme Court also distinguished cases where the court's discretion to set aside a regular judgment depends upon the applicant satisfying the recognised conditions. In A.C.B. Plc vs Losada (Nig.) Ltd, the Supreme Court reiterated that a party seeking to set aside a regular judgment must explain the default and show a defence on the merits. In Macaulay vs. NAL Merchant Bank Ltd the court emphasized that both conditions are prerequisites before discretion can be exercised. Are these conditions conjunctive or disjunctive? The authorities consistently state that the conditions are conjunctive, not disjunctive. The applicant must establish both: good and substantial reasons for the failure to appear; and a defence on the merits. The use of the word "and" in the Supreme Court decisions is deliberate. The courts have repeatedly refused applications where only one condition was established.A commonly quoted statement of the law is that the applicant must show good reasons for his absence and disclose a defence on the merits before the court can exercise its discretion in his favour. In this ruling, his lordship left out most fundamental judicial function and did not interrogate the reason for failure to apply to have the judgment set aside before INEC obey it. The court did not give us the opportunity what informed its reasons to set aside the judgment when there is no finding on the point why the applicants waited till 4th May 2026 before they apply to set aside the judgment. It appears there are more the public did not know.

A HEART OF GRATITUDE | APOSTLE JOSHUA SELMAN To my beloved Koinonia Global family, My heart is filled with gratitude to God and to every one of you. Thank you for the overwhelming expressions of love, honour, prayers, and generosity shown to me on the occasion of my birthday. The Scripture declares, "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you" (Philippians 1:3). Those words aptly capture the posture of my heart. Every prayer offered, every sacrifice made, every act of service, and every expression of honour has been received with deep appreciation. From Nigeria to the nations of the earth, your messages, gifts, prayers, and kind words have been a profound reminder that the body of Christ is united not merely by geography, but by the fellowship of the Spirit. I do not take your love for granted. More than your kindness toward me, I am grateful for your unwavering commitment to the purposes of God. This vision has never been about the exaltation of a man, but about the revelation of Jesus Christ, the advancement of His Kingdom, and the raising of a people who will walk in the fullness of God's counsel for their generation. Thank you for believing in this divine assignment and for labouring faithfully alongside us. I especially honour the fathers of faith, ministers of the Gospel, my contemporaries and fellow labourers in the vineyard, our partners, and the entire Koinonia Global family across the nations. Your support, encouragement, and prayers remain invaluable. My prayer for you is that the Lord Himself will reward your labour of love. May He remember your sacrifices, strengthen your hands, enlarge your influence, and raise helpers to stand with you in the pursuit of His purpose. As we continue this journey together, let us remain steadfast in our pursuit of Jesus Christ. May our lives continually reflect His character, proclaim His truth, and advance His Kingdom until the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of His glory. Thank you once again for your love, your prayers, and your unwavering support. With sincere love and abiding gratitude, Apostle Joshua Selman For Koinonia Global #ApostleJoshuaSelman #KoinoniaGlobal
Lokoja Judgment: An Unnecessary Serious Setback for Nigerian Democracy Today was an exceptionally busy day. I left Lagos in the early hours for Emekuku, where I visited the School of Nursing Sciences, an institution I have consistently supported over the years. It was gratifying to inspect projects funded through my previous interventions, including the school’s computer laboratory. Such investments reaffirm my belief that education remains one of the strongest foundations for national development. From there, I attended the 80th birthday celebration of the Emeritus Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Dr Anthony Obinna, whose commitment to justice, peace, and the common good has inspired many, before proceeding to Madonna University for another engagement. It was at Madonna University that I received the court news of the Lokoja court rulings through my brother, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Every Nigerian committed to the country’s progress should be deeply concerned. This judgment represents another setback for our democracy and the institutions upon which our future depends. It is regrettable that some who claim to champion democracy now appear determined to weaken the very institutions that sustain it. In doing so, they are undermining public confidence and endangering the future of millions of Nigerians. The legislature and the judiciary are increasingly being drawn into this pattern of institutional decline. Democracy cannot thrive where institutions lose their independence and credibility. Those who seek to weaken Nigeria’s democratic foundations will not ultimately prevail. When a similar situation recently affected the ADC, I condemned it without hesitation. I do so again today because my position has always been guided by principle. My concern is not about who becomes President. My concern is that Nigeria works. Our politics must move beyond the quest for power and focus instead on building a united nation founded on justice, strong institutions, the rule of law, and equal opportunity. That is the Nigeria we owe ourselves and the one we must leave for future generations. I therefore urge all well-meaning Nigerians to rise above partisan interests and defend our democracy. The survival of our institutions is inseparable from the survival of our nation. It's when we work together that a new Nigeria of our dream is made POssible. -PO

HONOURING A LEGACY OF LIGHT — HAPPY BIRTHDAY APOSTLE JOSHUA SELMAN! "The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace." Numbers 6:24–26 Some men are remembered for their accomplishments, some are remembered for their influence. But there are a rare few whose greatest achievement is that they make Jesus impossible to ignore. Today, as we celebrate Apostle Joshua Selman, we celebrate more than a birthday. We celebrate a life that has become evidence. Evidence that God still calls men, evidence that God still anoints men, and evidence that God still transforms ordinary people into vessels of extraordinary impact. Through your example and sound doctrines, you have consistently reminded us that the greatest pursuit in life is not success, influence, or recognition; it is knowing God and making Him known. Many found purpose through your teachings. Many found healing through your prayers. Many found courage through your example. Many found Jesus through your obedience. Through Koinonia, God has used your life to build people, raise worshippers, leaders, revivalists, kingdom ambassadors, and witnesses across nations. And perhaps your greatest message has never been spoken from a pulpit. It has been your life. A life that reminds us that God is still looking for men and women who will believe Him completely, follow Him wholeheartedly, and represent Him accurately. Thank you for showing us what it means to love Jesus sincerely and serve Him completely. As you celebrate another year, our prayer is that your voice continue to bring light to nations. May your labour continue to bear fruit across generations, and may your reward be great in time and in eternity. Happy Birthday, Apostle Joshua Selman. Thank you for being living proof that God still makes men. The Koinonia Global family loves you, honours you, and celebrates you greatly! #AJSBirthday2026 #CelebratingAJS2026 #ApostleJoshuaSelman #KoinoniaGlobal

Psalm 89:20 Today, we celebrate our dear father and mentor, whose "yes" to the Lord has become a doorway through which countless souls have encountered Christ, been transformed, and received light. We honour not just your birth, but your obedience. Not just your impact, but your consistency. Not just your ministry, but your unwavering devotion to revealing Jesus Christ and bringing Him glory. Through your teachings, many have found language for their destinies. Through your support and prayers, many have found the strength to keep believing. Through your example, many have discovered that intimacy with God is not a myth, but a possibility. You have taught us the way to love and shown us what true greatness in the Kingdom looks like. You have taught us to pursue Jesus above all else, to value Christ-like character above charisma, and to contend for deeper dimensions of spiritual growth and maturity. The countless souls saved, lives touched, destinies aligned, families restored, leaders raised, and altars rekindled through Koinonia stand as living proof that one yielded life can become a blessing to nations. Thank you for remaining faithful to the call. Thank you for teaching us the ways of God. As we honour you on this special day, we pray that the God whom you have served so faithfully will continue to strengthen you, enlarge your influence for His glory, multiply His grace upon your life, and reward every sacrifice made in devotion to His purposes. May your latter days be greater than your former. May the oil upon your life never cease. May your voice continue to echo across nations. May kings and generations yet unborn rise and call you blessed. May the impact of your life continue to bear fruit for eternity. Happy Birthday, Apostle Joshua Selman. Accountable Borrowing: The South Africa Example. I have consistently maintained that borrowing, in itself, is not a bad thing. Every nation borrows. The critical issue is not the act of borrowing, but what the borrowed funds are used for and whether citizens can clearly see and measure the impact of such borrowing in their daily lives. There is a lot to learn in the open and transparent manner in which South Africa handled its recently secured a $1 billion loan from the New Development Bank, with a clearly defined purpose. Publicly announcing the targeted purpose of the loan for all to know and monitor, upgrading water supply systems, modernising sanitation infrastructure, improving electricity distribution, and strengthening waste management services across eight major metropolitan cities, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban. This is indeed what accountable borrowing should look like; the purpose is clear, the projects are identifiable, and the expected benefits to citizens are measurable. Such investments directly improve living conditions, enhance productivity, and stimulate economic growth. In Nigeria, however, the opposite is the case: public debt has risen dramatically under the current administration, and its deployment is shrouded in secrecy from the people who will indeed pay back the loan. Today, our total public debt has increased from about ₦87 trillion in 2023 to nearly ₦200 trillion. Yet, despite this unprecedented accumulation of debt, Nigerians are often left without a clear and detailed account of how these borrowings are being deployed to improve critical sectors such as education, healthcare, power, security, and infrastructure. Borrowing must never become an end in itself. Every loan obtained in the name of the Nigerian people must be tied to specific, productive investments capable of generating economic value, creating jobs, reducing poverty, and improving the welfare of citizens. Good governance demands transparency and accountability. The government must be able to clearly explain what was borrowed, where it was invested, and what measurable outcomes have been achieved. The ordinary Nigerian should be able to see and feel the benefits of every debt incurred on their behalf. At a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling with rising costs of living, unemployment, insecurity, and declining purchasing power, fiscal discipline and prudent management of public resources are no longer optional; they are imperative. Every borrowing decision should answer one simple question: How does this improve the life of the ordinary Nigerian? If that question cannot be convincingly answered, then we risk merely transferring today's burdens to future generations. A New Nigeria is POssible. - PO BRICS bank approves $1 billion lifeline for South Africa’s struggling cities | Business Insider Africa share.google/9EBaaAdSS5EDAq…
Dear beloved sports-loving Nigerian youths, After watching the performances of Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema at the opening of the 2026 World Cup—at a time when Nigeria, the giant of Africa, is absent—I felt a measure of consolation. This was reinforced by the fact that many Nigerians playing for clubs worldwide are representing other countries. Felix Nmecha, for instance, set a record by scoring the fastest goal at six minutes for Germany. I write to you therefore, knowing that this country belongs to you, the youth. You are more of stakeholders in Nigeria’s future than I am. I am 64 years old; by God’s grace, much of my journey is behind me, while yours lies ahead. It is therefore imperative that you rise to the challenge by obtaining your PVC, your most powerful tool for driving the change you desire. In the last three years alone, over 15 million Nigerians have turned 18—enough to decide who becomes President, Governor, Senator, Member of the House, or Local Government Chairman. Indeed, enough to shape the nation’s future. I know many of you are sceptical about politics and political parties. I understand why, but scepticism must not become surrender. You do not need to belong to any party or wait for anyone to organise you. Organise yourselves in your streets, campuses, communities, workplaces, churches, mosques, and social groups. Mobilise, debate, demand accountability, and take part in choosing those you wish to entrust with leadership. If you are organised and wish to hear directly from me, invite me. I will come and share my plans for you and our nation. Do not sit on the sidelines while others decide your future. I appeal to you to register and vote. Your vote can shape who becomes the next President of our country. My young friends, this is your country. Take it back. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
Sustainable Success Is Built on Competence, Integrity, Discipline and hardworking. On Saturday, I had the privilege of interacting with young entrepreneurs, professionals, business leaders, and members of the emerging generation at the This Generation Conference hosted by Summit Bible Church in Abuja. Our discussion focused on what it takes to thrive in the marketplace despite prevailing economic challenges. I shared insights from my years in business and public service, emphasizing that sustainable success is built on integrity, competence, discipline, and a commitment to creating value for society. I reminded participants that no nation develops by consumption alone. Nations progress when their citizens are productive, innovative, and committed to excellence. Our young people must resist the temptation of shortcuts and instead embrace education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and ethical leadership. The future of Nigeria depends largely on the quality of leadership and enterprise this generation is willing to build. We must move from a culture of sharing poverty to one of creating prosperity through production, innovation, and responsible governance. I left encouraged by the energy, intelligence, and determination of the young people I met. Their questions, ideas, and aspirations reaffirmed my belief that Nigeria’s greatest resource remains her people. Together, through hard work, integrity, and purposeful leadership, we can build the New Nigeria that is POssible. -PO

Insecurity: Nigeria Cannot Continue Like This I received with deep shock and sadness the tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who reportedly died while in the custody of kidnappers. Earlier, before this heartbreaking news, I also received disturbing reports of renewed bandit attacks in Sokoto and Kwara States. The armed bandits reportedly blocked a market route in Sokoto and abducted traders, while terrorists invaded communities in Kwara State, kidnapping scores of citizens and killing innocent people, are heartbreaking and alarming. These incidents are not isolated tragedies; they are clear manifestations of the deepening security crisis confronting our nation. But particularly painful is the reported death of Major General Rabe Abubakar, a distinguished military officer who dedicated a significant part of his life to defending Nigeria and protecting its citizens. It is tragic that a man who served his fatherland with honour, rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and retired after years of meritorious service, would meet such a heartbreaking end at the hands of criminal elements. His death is a national tragedy and a sobering indictment of the insecurity that has engulfed our country. When traders can no longer travel safely to markets, farmers cannot access their farms, communities live under constant fear, and even retired senior military officers are not spared from the menace of kidnapping and violent crime, it becomes evident that our nation is facing a grave security emergency. Security remains the foremost responsibility of any government. Every life lost, every citizen abducted, and every community displaced represent a painful failure of our collective duty to protect the Nigerian people. The recurring attacks in Sokoto, Kwara, and many other parts of the country demonstrate that insecurity is not only persisting but spreading in both scope and intensity. I once again urge the Federal Government and our security agencies to move beyond rhetoric and adopt a more proactive, intelligence-driven, technology-based, and coordinated approach to tackling insecurity. We must strengthen our security architecture, improve intelligence gathering, secure our borders, equip and motivate our security personnel, and ensure that those responsible for these heinous crimes are apprehended and brought to justice. A nation where citizens live in fear cannot prosper. A nation where economic activities are disrupted daily by criminal elements cannot attract investment, create jobs, or guarantee a better future for its people. We must urgently reclaim every part of our country from terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and all criminal gangs threatening our collective existence. My heartfelt condolences go to the family of Major General Rabe Abubakar, his former colleagues in the Armed Forces, and all Nigerians who have lost loved ones to insecurity. I also sympathise with the families of those killed, those abducted, and the affected communities in Sokoto, Kwara, and across the nation. The recurring tragedies and embarrassing security failures we continue to witness make the quest for a New Nigeria not only necessary but inevitable. We must build a nation where every citizen can live, work, travel, and pursue legitimate economic activities without fear. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
Excessive Borrowing Without Accountability: Further Affirmation of Imprudent Governance. President Bola Tinubu's administration has engaged in remarkably imprudent borrowing, escalating Nigeria's total debt to approximately N200 trillion. This represents an increase of over N100 trillion within a mere three years, a stark contrast to the roughly N49 trillion accumulated during President Muhammadu Buhari's eight-year tenure, which would have projected to around N80 trillion. As millions of Nigerians grapple with the shock of this unsustainable debt accumulation, the situation is exacerbated by the government's reckless approach to borrowing and a profound absence of accountability and transparency in the utilisation of these funds. For instance, data from the Federation's Budget Office reveals that the Bola Tinubu government borrowed N11.89 trillion in the first three quarters of 2025 (January to September), exceeding the planned borrowing target of N10.34 trillion by approximately N1.54 trillion. Under a responsible and accountable government, such an overshoot would necessitate rigorous scrutiny and explanation from relevant governmental bodies. Regrettably, this is not the reality under the current administration. Compounding this issue, only N3.10 trillion of the borrowed funds was allocated to capital expenditure during the same January-September 2025 period. This constitutes a mere 17.66% of the N17.58 trillion earmarked for capital projects, leaving a deficit of roughly N14.48 trillion, or 82.34% of planned capital expenditure unfunded. The most disturbing aspect of the financial management fiasco under Bola Tinubu is that there is no explanation or information regarding how the balance was utilised or deployed. The question that Nigerians are rightly asking and deserve an answer to is what happened to the balance? Was it deployed for recurrent expenditure/ consumption, for the entertainment of guests to Aso Rock or transferred to the Renewed Hope Agenda 2027 Election Campaign Fund? Nigerians deserve an answer on how our economy and resources are most unpatriotically managed. A New and Productive Nigeria is POssible, and Nigeria will be OK! -PO
