74.7% of my childhood was spent watching a 14 inch portable TV from upstairs balanced on top of the 24 inch TV in the living room, that would not turn on because nobody had a 50p coin to put into the rental meter… I watched BACK TO THE FUTURE on that setup. And LOVED it.

In 1978, TV series The Incredible Hulk reused footage from Steven Spielberg’s Duel, replacing Dennis Weaver with their own actors. Spielberg went nuts and added a clause to future contracts: “No one can cannibalise my films and regurgitate them into some other show.”

@JosephKahn That's because in Black's original script, it wasn't a white cop/black cop buddy movie. It was old cop/young crazy cop buddy movie. Murtaugh was written as a 50-year-old white dude.

THE FLY is one of the greatest movies ever made and 87.2% of it takes place on one set with two actors. It should feel small and cheap yet it's grand and operatic. I honestly think it's a perfect movie.

The biggest cinematic crime of my lifetime was failing to build a multi-decade franchise around Jodie Foster’s CLARICE STARLING. That should have been her JACK RYAN or DIRTY HARRY. We should have watched her rise from trainee to FBI leadership as the world changed around her.
