@TheFamousArtBR I have a friend in education on the West Coast, and he tells me that the high school kids are covered in 90s & 80s band T-shirts because they have no current music scene of their own. Straight-ahead rock music has been muted in this generation.

It’s why younger gen’s are having “nostalgia” for the 90s despite not even being born then. They instinctively know something’s off, and things aren’t how they’re supposed to be, because there’s so much evidence of us having lived in a completely different society only a moment before them.

Lindsey Graham's parents died within 15 months of each other when his sister Darline was 13. He became her guardian and raised her. He was a military lawyer, a Judge Advocate General (JAG), after getting his psychology degree. He once served as head prosecutor in Europe in USAF. He retired as a colonel and earned a Bronze Star. He also served in the Guard and Reserve. He was a constitutional law scholar, and when asked a question about legislation, would frequently speak at length about the constitution. He had a wicked sense of humor. He loved his state, the military, and his country. He loved his sister most of all.

He's correct. Without a shadow of a doubt...

US Stamp prices to rise from 78¢ to 82¢ today. When Forever stamps were introduced in 2007, they sold for 41 cents each. At the new rate of 82 cents, the price has doubled over the past 19 years. The postal service has a net loss of about $9 billion per year. They should consider cutting back deliveries to 3 days per week. They really don't need 6 day per week of home mail delivery service.

FRIDAY MORNING WEATHER (Powered By: Rose City Air & Altra Federal Credit Union - Texas) Good Friday morning! You’ve almost made it to the weekend! Look at you…workin’ a full week, after so many took a long weekend last week. • We have ourselves another relatively quiet start across the area this morning with temps still pretty warm, thanks to a breeze that never fully let go overnight. This has left us with mid to upper 70s areawide to start the day. • Today should look a lot like yesterday insofar as copious sunshine is concerned. We also have another Heat Advisory that’ll affect our northern counties again this afternoon for those Heat Index values just a tick or so above the 105° threshold. • One thing I do want to mention, though, is the potential for a stray shower across our southern and Deep East Texas counties, thanks to the effects of the sea breeze. There shouldn’t be too many of ‘em, but there could be a few to see in this area. • After a quiet night, tonight, we’ll look for a few more afternoon showers on Saturday, although most folks should stay dry…and plenty warm, too. • Ridging to our west that’ll amplify over the weekend will allow for a corresponding trough to affect East Texas from Sunday through the middle of this coming week. As that happens, with the already moisture-charged airmass in place, we should see daily and even overnight chances for showers and thunderstorms from Sunday forward. • While this is not a significant severe setup for us, there could be a stray stronger storm on Sunday, after church, given the better heating that’ll be allowed to occur prior to storm initiation. • The more consistent nuisance will surround the potential for street flooding in areas that receive the brunt of some of these downpours. As some of you’ve seen over the last several weeks, there’s a lot of moisture stored up in them there clouds! And, when allowed to precipitate, they can dump a lot of water over an area, made even more problematic when you have slow-moving storms to deal with, which is what we’ll likely have on our plate. WPC has some portion of our area within at least a “Marginal Flash Flood risk from Sunday through Tuesday. • Thankfully, the clouds and showers should help to keep a lid on the temp, at least compared to what we’ll see today and tomorrow. THURSDAY MORNING WEATHER (Powered By: Rose City Air & Project One Roofing) Good Thursday morning, and welcome almost to Friday! We’ve been able to maintain a bit of a breeze overnight, and that has helped us to be uniformly warmer across the area to start the day, compared to where we were on Wednesday morning by anywhere from two to, in some cases, as much as seven degrees. • A somewhat tighter pressure gradient (difference in barometric pressure over a specified area) over the south-central part of the county has helped drive the breeze overnight, as we talked about starting earlier this week. In fact, you look aloft and see pretty consistent ~20 mph winds at a thousand or so feet aloft over the eastern half of the state this morning. Were this coming in from more of a due southerly direction, we’d be dealing with more low cloud cover. But instead it’s swinging in more southwesterly. • This will all help to keep us more mixed around today with a nice 10-15 mph wind through the day on Saturday, which I’m all for at this point in July. Any breeze at all at this time of year is a blessing in my book. • Now that we’ve lost the impetus for shower development, I still think we’re onto a dry stretch of days for the vast majority of us through the day on Saturday. That said, there will be some sea breeze showers working northward into the area from the coast on Saturday afternoon that could get as far north as I-20 by late afternoon. However, rain chances at any one spot even then still look slim. • With more sunshine on the board, temps will have even less trouble making their upward surge today through Saturday as well. This morning’s bump adds further emphasis to this point when it comes to how today will trend. • Given the projected heat index values for later this afternoon, NWS offices in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Shreveport have opted to lay out a “Heat Advisory” for this afternoon. Some of our northern counties will be included in this too, for Heat Index values above that 105° threshold. • Those of us south of I-30 should see somewhat better mixing of drier air, which has worked its way into the area over the last 24 hours aloft, down to the surface this afternoon. This would help to keep the heat index a little more under control for the rest of us today. • By Saturday night, we should have a weak front coming southward out of Oklahoma that’ll likely help to focus shower and thunderstorm development on Sunday, continuing into Monday as well, as the front will remain in the general area. In fact, rain chances look pretty respectable through at least Tuesday, which, again, is something to behold in July!
