I'm going to give a shoutout to @dotepub for the great extension that turns webpages into EPUB files. dotepub.com I've been using this since 2011 and I'm so glad they're still supporting it. And yes, I donated.

@davidmanheim I’ll look into the issue. Dotepub expects semantic markup and ignores styles which can be a problem with hidden elements.

@mikecane It should work now: once the namespace error was corrected other issues arose because markup in lamag.com is pretty weird. With those also corrected, conversion is now possible but the result is far from perfect.

@mikecane “This page contains the following errors:error on line 10 at column 789: Namespace prefix xlink for href on use is not defined” dotepub found in the HTML something that it’s not XML-valid. Dotepub should sanitize that. I’ll try to include this in the next version.

@NoelGalaga Ebooks are XML-based. XML is very strict. Ebook readers won’t allow an XML document that is not a 100% valid. Webpages are HTML documents. HTML is not strict. Sometimes is not easy to create something strict from something that is not. Sorry.

@TechTeresa Teresa, this seems to be a new security feature of iOS: any download requires a confirmation and the Books app won’t open automatically: you need to go to the download section of Safari and click on the e-book. But dotepub works fine.

In case you noticed, current version of dotepub for Chrome is 1.2.4. It was recently updated to comply with new Chrome Web Store Policy but has exactly the same capabilities of 1.2.3 (actually the options page still reports version 1.2.3).
