I will give you the real order of events, “People want me to say Guendouzi is a clown. I will not. I played in France. I know that stadium. I know that rivalry. When 55,000 people start on your mother and your children before the warm-up even finishes, that is not ‘atmosphere.’ That is cheap. In France they stop matches for less. The referee heard it. The fourth official heard it. Nobody said a word. So don’t come now with the moral lecture. Guendouzi is a Marseille boy in a Lyon house. They chose him as the enemy before kick-off. He played 90 minutes in that noise, his team scored twice away from home, and Fenerbahçe are in the Champions League for the first time in 18 years. That is the job. The rest is theatre. The first punch was in the stands. If you throw stones for 90 minutes, do not cry when one comes back. Then a 48-year-old goalkeeping coach runs like Cantona to kick a player. That is not passion. That is a grown man losing his mind because his club just missed the Champions League again. Lyon have been outside the big table for years. Frustration is allowed. A flying kick from the staff is not. Ederson and the others did what teammates do — they stood in front of their guy. That is football. That is loyalty. Tolisso told him to be humble. Fine. Captains talk. I respect that. But humility is not standing there like a statue while 60,000 people insult your kids. Maturity is also knowing when the other side already crossed the line. Guendouzi could have walked down the tunnel in silence. That would have been smarter. He didn’t. He is who he is. But if we only punish the player who answers and we ignore the stadium that started it, and we ignore the coach who tried to kick him, then we are not talking about respect. We are talking about who has the better PR. I don’t love every gesture. I love that he didn’t fold. Lions get booed. Sheep ask for a statement. That is the difference.”
