As we said earlier this month whilst Sandro Tonali was desperate for Manchester City to sign him, the club were never interested in moving for him this summer.

Manchester City are in a position to spend upwards of 250 million pounds this summer, before potential sales. Any sales would increase their budget significantly. They are also keen to give their new manager Enzo Maresca the best possible squad to win both the Premier League and the Champions League. Money is not a concern.

As we first stated a few weeks back, Manchester City are looking at Ayoub Bouaddi as their second midfielder for this summer. There are other names who are on their list, but Bouaddi is the one they are currently trying to negotiate for.

A lot of questions about Givairo Read, but his situation has always been complicated by his injury record in 2026. Along with Michael Kayode and Tino Livramento, Read was heavily scouted and is certainly a player that Manchester City like a lot. There's very little certainty around the Malo Gusto move. Manchester City are unlikely to pay anywhere near the figures that Chelsea are quoting for the Frenchman, but they are aware of how much Gusto did flourish under Enzo Maresca. The final decision on the priority target for the right back position has not yet been decided. This week what Manchester City intend to do is engage Chelsea in a formal conversation about their openness to a sale at a fee which Manchester City believe would be closer to Gusto's market value.
