@robbierecall @gumppinatx An enrolled student in a Texas high school costs $13K per year. University is $15K per student per year in taxpayer subsidies. There’s no universe where an illegal family contributes that much in taxes to the State of Texas. The subsidy comes from citizens and legal immigrants.

@robbierecall @gumppinatx Texas has no income tax and illegals who came over in the past 2-4 years rarely own homes (even Americans can barely afford homes and certainly not with a couple of years of typical illegal low salary). So they don’t pay property taxes to fund schools/tuition either

@chigrl @ZubyMusic Democracy would work a lot better if a net tax contribution greater than zero was required to vote. Otherwise it's an ultimately unstable system as politicians will always choose to "buy" votes by promising freebies decade after decade.

@1698Promise @ScottPresler Almost all legislatures considering this would limit it to homeowners living in their homes (homestead) which is the right way to approach this imo. So property taxes would continue to exist for everything else but people won’t be kicked out of their homes due to insane tax rates

@AlmostMedia @KDimitratos Yes, but American taxpayers at least have access to 401Ks, HSAs, Roths etc. None of this stuff is available in Europe and much fewer Europeans invest to benefit from compounding in any way shape or form.

@AlmostMedia @KDimitratos Seriously, EU "universal" healthcare is so good that almost anyone in top quartile buys private insurance to avoid public hospitals lol. Not to mention Katerina always leaves out that in the EU ***you pay 20%-25% VAT*** on every transaction from the dentist to the car mechanic.
