@hatttiegladwell It doesn't help that along with the stigma around depression, men have to deal with the perceived expectation that they need to "be strong", and that taking antidepressants, or even seeking help at all, doesn't equal that. Great to see those notions being turned on their heads!

@TarsieroRosanna @MHChat @nrmentalhealth That's a great idea. Having a support network is so important for mental health for everyone. There's also often the tendency to put yourself down and blow things out of proportion, so having that reassurance from a non-judgemental network of others is crucial #MHChat

@nrmentalhealth @MHChat I completely agree! I think when motivated by recognition it's important to look inward and at the other factors of motivation. As you said, opinions are constantly changeable, and our actions may not have the desired effect, which can damage motivation mindset over the long-term

@MHChat It depends on the content people are consuming. #SocialMedia & games can be inspiring & encourage action. It can also be great for accountability. But, it can be a time suck, & cause people to compare themselves to others, which can have negative effects on #MH and motivation

@MelMorganHR Absolutely. Excellent point about long-term effects too. Consistent comments here and there can snowball and have an impact on MH. All forms of bullying are unacceptable, but there's something particularly insidious about being bullied by people you place in a position of trust.

@MelMorganHR I've not experienced this, but it's something I've seen openly done to others. What shocked me was speaking to them and finding out they thought it was acceptable for anyone to talk to them and treat them the way they were being treated. Horrible. Well done for raising awareness!
