Blaming Jews for Jew-Hate Is the Oldest Trick in History “Jabotinsky, Kahane, Smotrich, Netanyahu, Ben Gvir are responsible for the situation in which Israel is the most hated country in the world.” “During the Oslo period, the Palestinians and the Arab nations were prepared to recognize Israel if Israel granted Palestinian sovereignty.” “Netanyahu said, ‘No! We want it all!’” I am tired of this shit! It pisses me off. Shut these people down and don't let them spew their garbage. This is not analysis. Apparently Jews are hated because of Israeli politics. Fascinating. So who caused Jew-hate in medieval Europe? Was Netanyahu running the Crusades? Did Ben Gvir organize the Rhineland massacres in 1096? Was Smotrich advising the Spanish Inquisition when Jews were forced to convert, flee, or burn? Was Jabotinsky whispering in the ear of King Edward I when England expelled its Jews in 1290? Was Kahane responsible for the Black Death libels, when Jews were accused of poisoning wells because medieval Europe handled pandemics with the intellectual rigor of a damp sock? Did Likud cause the Russian pogroms? Did Zionists invent the Dreyfus Affair? Did Israel cause the Nazis to murder six million Jews before Israel even existed? And since we are playing this ridiculous game, who caused Jew-hate in the Muslim world before 1948? Who made Jews second-class dhimmis? Who forced Maimonides’ family to flee persecution? Who attacked Jewish communities in Hebron, Safed, Baghdad, Fez, Aden, and elsewhere long before Netanyahu’s barber had grandparents? What about the 1929 Hebron massacre? What about Safed? Were those caused by Israeli cabinet ministers too? This is the trick. They take a hatred older than Islam, older than Christianity, older than modern Europe, and older than every Israeli political party. Then they pretend it was born yesterday because one Israeli minister said something ugly on television. Now let’s talk Oslo. Because the fantasy version says: “The Arabs were ready for peace, and Israel said no because Israel wanted it all.” That is not history. That is a bedtime story for people who confuse slogans with receipts. Israel recognized the PLO. Israel brought Arafat back from exile. Israel handed over territory. Israel armed Palestinian security forces. Israel gave the Palestinians self-rule in major population centers. Israel accepted the principle of Palestinian political autonomy as a pathway toward peace. Then came Camp David. Then came the Clinton Parameters. Then came more offers. Israel moved closer and closer to what the Palestinians claimed they wanted. And what happened? Arafat walked away. No final yes. No counteroffer that became peace. Then came the Second Intifada. Buses exploded. Cafes exploded. Families were murdered. Children were blown apart. So spare us the fairy tale that peace was sitting on the table like a warm challah and Israel slapped it away because of “the right wing.” Israel tested the theory. Israel made concessions. Israel took risks. Israel buried its dead. And the world still blamed the Jews. Because that is the pattern. The world hated powerless Jews for 2,000 years. Then Jews got power, and suddenly the world said, “See? This is why we hate you.” That is not a moral argument. That is an abuser saying, “Look what you made me do.” Valid criticism of Israel exists. Of course it does. Israel is a country, not a kiddush cup. It has bad politicians, failed policies, corruption, extremists, cowards, fools, and enough internal arguing to power Tel Aviv for a decade. Criticize policy. Criticize leaders. Criticize decisions. But when your explanation for Jew-hate somehow skips the people who actually hated, expelled, robbed, raped, converted, ghettoized, murdered, and scapegoated Jews for centuries, you are not doing history. You are laundering antisemitism through political commentary. And blaming Jews for Jew-hate is the oldest Jew-hate trick in the book. The Jew is too religious. The Jew is too secular. The Jew is too capitalist. The Jew is too communist. The Jew is too weak. The Jew is too powerful. The Jew has no homeland. The Jew has a homeland. Same disease. New packaging. Same rotten smell. So no, Jabotinsky did not make the world hate Jews. He noticed the world already did. That was the whole point. The Iron Wall was not invented because Jews were paranoid. It was written because Jewish history has receipts. Mountains of them. Every time Jews forget those receipts, someone shows up with a torch, a manifesto, a fatwa, a five-year plan, or a UN resolution to remind us. Blame bad Israeli policy when Israel gets policy wrong. But do not insult our intelligence by pretending Jew-hate began with modern Zionism. Jew-hate did not begin because Jews built a state. Jew-hate is why Jews needed a state in the first place.
