@Y40IFRQTTING Why Mussolini and not Garibaldi or Emmanuel 2 or some other Italian leader? I would have no problem if Italian was called modern Latin. Im not a linguist but i think that would make sense. Same as it does for Greek.

@David54587400 @fitzr1189 Football should be classified as the most popular sport in Ireland with no arguments yet there is an argument. We have a broken soccer culture here. I understand it annoys EPL fans to admit it but those who value the LOI want us all to be honest about this.

@David54587400 @fitzr1189 My point is very easy to understand. Your capacity excuse for the small attendances at those 2 or 3 football grounds does not alter the fact our domestic league is badly supported compared to other similarly sized nations in Europe and beyond.

@David54587400 @fitzr1189 Interest in the EPL completely dwarfs interest in the LOI. The LOI clubs are doing fantastic considering the majority of soccer fans in Ireland refuse to support them and want to pretend they are somehow connected with Man Utd or Liverpool instead. Irish u21s were amazing too.

@TirChonaillAbu Do you want a 32 county Ireland? I do. We have got to get loyalists on board if it is to happen.

@David54587400 @fitzr1189 I stand by my “We don’t really do” football in Ireland comment. Compare us to other countries. We have a very poorly supported league. Football is popular but it is English football, the EPL, not our own domestic league. I don’t like admitting this as an irish football fan.

@omwanba_ If they had paid attention to your F you would have got more of them as that’s why you did it. That’s how this made up amateur psychology stuff works.

@anon_opin People who pay their road tax should be allowed to park on the street. If your neighbour has a driveway and is considerate of your parking needs be grateful. Don’t feel entitled because you are not entitled.

@ATRightMovies Pity it’s not true. This story would only work if it was about meeting Sean Connery (or maybe George Lazenby) as the character of Blofeld didn’t appear in any of the Moore’s film’s unless you count that throw away comedy bit before the credits in for your eyes only.

@SER1897 @ClistonBrown The facts are the facts. That is why I don’t rate Bentsen’s “zinger”.

@SER1897 @ClistonBrown Quayle was making a narrow, purely objective comparison regarding tenure. He stated he had served in Congress for as long as JFK had when running for president (12 years vs. 14 years). This was factually true. Bentsen deflected Instead of addressing the point.

@ClistonBrown Please stop insisting on this Cliston. Kennedy was a similar age to Quayle and that is what Quayle said. Bentsen should have called him on his inexperience/inability but instead used a straw-man argument telling Quayle he is no Jack Kennedy when Quayle never said he was...

@ClistonBrown I agree in general but as a specific retort to Quayle’s assertion that Kennedy was similarly young when he ran for president, Bentsen’s response does not work because Quayle’s point is still valid. Objectively Quayle is correct. Bentsen’s team should’ve done better.

@ClistonBrown He was drawing a parallel in their ages. He was a similar age to Kennedy. The response was not appropriate. It was delivered well in front of a partisan crowd so that was enough even though it made no actual sense.

@seidodge Disappointing but it’s not all doom and gloom. 3 wins and draw from 4 home games in European competitions is very encouraging from a League of Ireland. Club.
