I use ephemeral VMs for every task and built a thing to make this easy. I wiped my main machine and do zero dev on it now. No dev tools are even installed. Less chance for supply chain attack this way. It’s also more convenient. AI can install whatever tools it needs per task. Zero creds in VM.
@steipete The worst is when you trigger manual human review but the notarization service just gives you generic errors. It will stay broken for weeks until you reach out to support for someone to click a button.

Oh I know. I saw that with opus 4.5 first hand and some of your videos ❤️ it couldn’t be more clear. It’s a weird feeling that those skills are mostly useless. I’m not sad yet because I have a nearly endless list of things to build. I think you mentioned you did that and it passes. We’ll see how I feel after I run out of things to build.

@DanielLockyer Totally agree on the UX. CLI syntax is awful. I got a lot further using AI than I would have but it’s bad. Since my dev envs are all VMs now I just use AI written bash to set everything up.

@_MaxBlade Yeah in my testing Fable 5 is so good that i feel it’s best it just pause dev until it comes back. And instead use the time to plan out work for when it comes back up.

@ayushagarwal027 Go is my go to but I’ve recently built some stuff in Rust. The Rust build times are brutal compared to go. I didn’t think I’d care too much about compile time but it really matters when iterating quickly. Unless I need absolute perf Go is in a pretty good sweet spot.

@yacineMTB Configuring Linux with AI is awesome. My latest: my monitor on the right needs rotated 90. No do it the other way. Now add waybar on that screen too. I remember the days of spending literally hours trying to get that stuff right in a giant xml xorg.conf file.

@RyanJamesShaw @levelsio Yeah AWS firewall rules, digital ocean, Hetzner, whatever. They all have one and they operate about the same. Firewall rules are fairly standard across interfaces.
