welp, I got caught up in the great tech firing as well- reported for my first day at @officialodeko and was told that my position no longer exists, sorry about that and the fact that you left your old job for this, what a shame.

@kyleshevlin when the pandemic started, I started taking one day off a week to try out the retirement plans... nominally so far this means pottery studio in the winter and long bike trips through the woods in the summer

@kyleshevlin I'm always going to enjoy making stuff, but I'd like to do more things both for humanity, like maybe engineers without borders or something like that, and make more physical things, like woodworking and pottery.

@seldo part of what led to the insane delay with BER was that it wasn't designed to be a giant duty-free (same as Tegel wasn't), but they redesigned the whole thing to focus on the shops, because otherwise it wouldn't have made enough money to stay afloat

@adamdotdev I've heard too many horror stories of insane bills being accidentally generated by people who don't really know what they're doing, so until there's a way to guarantee that I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot there, I probably won't get past that stage

@fourtwentayy @DoreenCaven yes actually: reddit.com/r/puppy101/ we had tons and tons of issues with our dog and reactivity and separation anxiety, this helped a lot. fwiw, we also used the plan in the book "I'll be right back" to train him (over the course of a year), to manage being alone for some hours

@GergelyOrosz @itskingori I've seen it forced before, when a product became regulated in a way it wasn't before. Watching even management drag their feet on that was interesting, preferring to run out the clock and hope they didn't *actually* have to do it rather than train and prep the engineers
