Many commentators and policy voices discussing Gaza still fail to grasp the scale of damage Hamas inflicted over two decades, let alone the catastrophic consequences of October 7, and what that means for how Israel will view Gaza for the foreseeable future. Even if you condemn Israeli actions, Netanyahu’s leadership, or the IDF’s conduct, Gaza will be regarded with deep suspicion for years. Israel is not going to withdraw quickly before disarmament is credible and nearly complete. The Israeli public will remain anxious about what follows any withdrawal, shaped by the long, painful experience after the 2005 disengagement. Hamas ultimately validated Israel’s core argument for the blockade: the group transformed Gaza into a fortified launchpad for smuggling, rockets, tunnels, and attacks. After the worst single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, fears of Gaza again becoming a threat are only exacerbated. This reality puts the burden squarely on Hamas to expediently exit the scene, and on observers to understand Israel’s security lens. It requires reimagining Gaza’s future in a post-war, post-Hamas era: a territory rebuilt into a hub of Palestinian stability, prosperity, effective governance, and peaceful regional integration, making up for the two decades Hamas hijacked. Acknowledging this does not mean endorsing Israeli policy or perpetual military control. But insisting on full Israeli withdrawal while Hamas remains present is unserious, detached from the realities on the ground, and ignores how Israel’s security establishment actually operates. ***Excerpt from my conversation with a panel on TRT World regarding Gaza and the announced Hamas disarmament proposal.

In Manchester 🇬🇧, police arrested two people in connection with an incident where shots were fired from a BB gun at Jewish people. Three people sustained minor injuries from the attack, in which someone fired a BB gun from a passing vehicle. I don't care if this wasn't a lethal incident. Attacks on Jews continue to grow, as does the trauma. It must stop.

It took less than 48 hours for Jews to be attacked in NYC after Mayor Mamdani's remarks on arresting Netanyahu, an empty campaign promise. Why is it that when we warn about attacks, people say we are "playing victim", but as soon as we are victims, they simply ignore us?

They objected to her participation in an event in Tel Aviv in 2025. They also didn’t like how she voiced her support for a law that would outlaw calling for the destruction of countries, support for terror, and Holocaust distortion. The bill didn’t even pass. But that didn’t matter to the mob that harassed her until she was forced to leave the stage, during her performance of the song “Imagine.” You know, if you strenuously oppose a bill that would protect Jews from modern forms of antisemitism, then violently harass Jewish musicians into silence, it kind of seems like you just want free rein to be an antisemite.

The FBI just executed a joint operation with Qatari special police to capture a U.S.-wanted fugitive; a striking precedent that raises an unavoidable question for both the Biden and Trump administrations. If Washington can leverage Doha’s security services to arrest criminals on U.S. warrants, why hasn’t that same cooperation been used to extradite Hamas’s leadership living openly in the gas‑rich Sheikhdom? These individuals are complicit in the October 7 attack, an assault in which American citizens were murdered and taken hostage by a U.S.-designated terrorist organization. Why, then, are Hamas’s leaders still moving freely a short drive from al-Udeid, the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East, home to American intelligence and law-enforcement assets? Two successive administrations, Democrat and Republican, appear to have made a deliberate choice not to pursue one of the deadliest terrorist organizations to have killed Americans and ignited the most serious conflict in the modern Middle East. That choice now sits squarely before incoming Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, and President Trump himself: either use the leverage and cooperation already proven effective with Qatar to hold Hamas accountable, or accept the charge of having allowed a terrorist leadership, fully within reach of U.S. power, to remain untouched.

Every day I think about that dinner - but of course, no one knew what would happen the next day," she said. "We saw rockets, but this time it felt different, because there were so many of them. It was something that had never happened before, so I went to my parents' house so we could be together." "We weren't worried about my brother. We didn't know he was there in Nova. We thought he was with his friend Lior at home." "I thought maybe this friend who told us made a mistake, but when we finally realized that Hanan had gone to Nova, life changed forever." "Hanan, his friend Lior, and two women fled to his car and left the festival. But on the way, a car in front of them got stuck in traffic and reversed - and crashed into their car. Hanan left his car to check on the condition of the other car, when suddenly he was shot in the chest by terrorists and fell to the road. Hanan was seriously injured and dying. After that, the terrorists pointed their weapons at his friends - and murdered them all." "It's a miracle they found him. The terrorists put the bodies in bags, inside the walls. The army could have easily destroyed this tunnel without seeing him there - but fortunately, they saw the bags, and took them to Israel." Hanan's remains were identified from his teeth. "I still can't believe this is what happened. Almost three years later, only now does my father realize that Hanan is not coming home. Hanan was my little brother, so special. We were always together, best friends. I smile when I think of him. I smile and cry together." "Being with [Nova survivors] means I can feel my brother. They give me hope, they give me life. I see how they smile, how they dance, and I know what happened to them. They are strong, so I have to be too. They need us - and we need them." I'm tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas. I'm a strong Democrat, with a winning bipartisan track record. I'm rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life. But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive. "No police, no prisons, no borders" is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE. If there were no police or prisons, if anyone in your neighborhood could do whatever they wanted, while politicians cheered on terror groups — would that represent PROGRESS to you? No, that would be a step back. Those are REGRESSIVE ideas. On the other hand, if everybody could see a doctor when they got sick, get a good, free education and breathe clean air — would that represent progress? Yes. Those are PROGRESSIVE ideas. They are NOT the same thing. And the difference matters. Some defend the far left by claiming they only want Nordic-style social democracy. If that were true, I might applaud them. I want those policies, too! But what does universal healthcare have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter. And these are terrible ideas. Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you. Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need "party poopers. So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes. They aren't. And we are smart enough to know the difference. 💩
