@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 I see from your pic, you don’t have a lot of excavating room and I’m assuming that amount of work will cost quite a bit. @BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 Alright well if it was me and I had the extra cash, I’d be doing either a concrete or cinderblock 3 foot tall grade beam w/ rebar that surrounds the tub and holds back 99% of the pressure from the dirt. I also live 2500 miles north of you and our soil has a ton of movement…

@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 Honestly, if they have experience with this situation, and their tub has so far survived with no damage, I would just trust them. I don’t have the hot tub know how to say otherwise and it sounds like the GC does👍

@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 I’m not sure if that would actually take away the problem though seeing how backerboard doesn’t have any structural value. Do you have a general contractor on site or you doing this yourself?

@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 First concern would be the shell. It’s 2022, there’s no way they’re building hot tubs with the quality you’d hope for/expect. And then if the shell caved in, it pushes on the foam and plumbing and I don’t think it would take much movement to crack one of those pipes or jets

@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 Of pressure on the sides of the tub. I think I’d still call and see if new tubs are meant to withstand that kind of inward pressure. For me, that’s too much money to spend only for the sides to cave in after a month ha

@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 I somewhat agree. I’d doubt the sides of the tub would actually cave in seeing how it’s only going down 4ish feet. And you live in FL I see so no worries about freeze and thaw cycle. But still, your soil is probably quite wet down there which over time, would still cause a lot…

@BullFlexDaily @E5C4P3777 Sometimes dirt can cause a lot of pressure/hydrostatic pressure on basement walls (hot tub in this case) The spray foam inside a tub is probably quite strong but I think if I was in this situation, I’d take the time to call a tub dealer before running my plumbing and burying it
