“Living in harmony with nature” means *not* consuming as much material and energy as you can, and not proliferating maximally into every possible habitat— Therefore, *no species on Earth* lives in harmony with nature—except for humans, a little bit. Because they all do that. The only reason other species haven't broken out of their current bounds, is that they can't. They are constantly trying! Humans are the only species even *capable* of “living in harmony with nature,” by this standard.

@ArtemisConsort I think part of what drives opposition to the death penalty is the prospect that it could be applied in error, or in deliberate malice. If the justice process was flawlessly fair the overall balance of opinion might be quite different.
