This work was led by @Hyungbae_Jeon with collab from @AllomeDNA + @bk_gallagher and is part of a special issue tribute for the late Jeff Hutchings (cdnsciencepub.com/topic/jeff-hut…). Jeff loved small popn biology and initiated research on this study system (#CapeRace) ~40 years ago.

@JMergeay @seanmhoban yes, we need improved reporting of local vs. meta-Ne. As is more consideration of: (i) whether Nb or Ne is being estimated; (ii) whether Ne + Nc are being properly linked (still a problem; Nc needs care too); (iii) bias in what taxa get studied (+ where); lots to learn still!

Salmon, trout + char aficionados! At 1/100th the size of a typical #anadromous salmon, here are perhaps the world's smallest mature female #Atlanticsalmon (9-11cm, 10-20g, 15-30 eggs). They eke out a living in low order streams of #CapeRace, #Newfoundland (no access to sea)
