We are quick to condemn America for its gun culture, its school shootings, its dead children — and rightly so. Yet when will Britain reckon with its own press? I ask this in earnest: when will we address the culture of our media? When?

If a friend in Nigeria is going through a slightly sticky separation and is trying to find out what assets they actually own - do we have things like private investigators? Is there someone she should hire? Or like ways to search, generally, land registries or for shares?

I'm devastated for the family and friends of Jason Arday. He faced an unacceptable public hounding and campaign of abuse. I know many Londoners will be angry and upset this evening. Jason Arday was the victim of a pernicious public shaming that other people in his position simply wouldn’t have faced. His death was a tragedy, but once again it should be a wake up call for all of us.

Hi Janet. We meet again… The only point my vodka bottle was making was about the astounding physical preference that basketball has for a single characteristic - greater than any other sport I can think of. Yes, jockeys are often small and sumo wrestlers are often wide, but if I told you that 17% of short people are professional jockeys or 17% of fat Japanese men are professional wrestlers, you wouldn’t believe me. And you’d be right because that couldn’t possibly be true. But it is true for 7’ tall men. I just find that amazing. I also find it amazing that no one else finds it amazing.

GUIDELINES ON GATED STREETS/BARRIERS The Ministry of Transportation has observed a surge in the installation of unauthorised gates, particularly in the Lekki axis. Many of these gates were erected without the necessary approvals from the Ministry, while some approved gates are being mismanaged as residents fail to adhere to the established guidelines for gated streets in Lagos State. This non-compliance poses significant challenges to traffic flow, emergency response access, and overall public safety. As such, the Ministry is taking a firm stance to address this issue and wishes to reiterate the following in line with the Lagos State Government’s policy and regulations: i. All gates and barriers installed without prior authorisation from the Lagos State Government are illegal and will be removed. ii. Any unauthorised gate or barrier must be dismantled within seven (7) days of this announcement. Failure to comply will result in enforcement actions, including removal and penalties, in line with existing regulations. For gates and barriers with prior approval, compliance with the following guidelines is mandatory: i. Gates or barriers on public roads or streets must remain fully open for public use between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily, to ensure interconnectivity and the free flow of traffic across the State. ii. All approved gates or barriers must be manned by security personnel engaged by the Community Development Associations (CDAs). However, between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, these gates or barriers may remain closed but must be opened promptly in the event of an emergency to allow free access and exit for first responders. The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi urges all residents and CDAs to strictly comply with these guidelines to foster a safe, efficient, and connected transportation network across the State. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will incur punitive measures against non-compliant CDAs, including fines and further enforcement actions from the State Government. All residents in gated streets or areas with barriers are encouraged to ensure compliance with these regulations to maintain a safe and accessible transportation network across the State. The route to market was a thing of beauty, when Coca-Cola handled direct distribution in Nigeria, before switching to the distributor model. It was an incredibly detailed and disciplined system. Even after the transition, they continued to leverage that knowledge to guide their distributors, and they still do today. The market mapping went down to the smallest retailer, even those selling just five bottles a day. Every outlet was known, and someone was responsible for tracking and servicing it. FMCG is all about distribution. The mantra then was, "A cold Coke is a sold Coke." Our job was simply to ensure retailers never ran out of Coke and always had a way to keep it cold. So we distributed cooling units, coolers, and even supplied daily ice to street vendors. It was hard work, but it worked. I hated the job sha...
