we're probably 6–18 months away from a world where: - obesity is basically solved - balding actually gets fixed, real hair regrowth - biological age becomes something you can push backwards - fertility stops being locked to a biological countdown clock - cancer treatment looks less like chemo and more like software: sequence the tumor, design the fix, treat it - some genetic diseases get erased with a single treatment - lab-grown organs become a real option - drugs get designed faster than human teams can test them - autonomous labs run thousands of experiments overnight while everyone sleeps - your doctor gets a biological dashboard that catches disease before you feel a symptom - personalized medicine means getting a treatment designed specifically for your biology 2026 is changing the stakes we're extrapolating from things that are already working bio/acc

I read an article a few years ago that changed my life. Speed Matters.

Damn, Google is back in the game

Introducing Gemini 4 Argon – our new frontier model. It’s built for complex workflows across coding, enterprise knowledge work, and cybersecurity defense – rolling out today to a set of trusted testers through our Fairwind Program.

The weirdest possibility isn’t that AI wakes up and announces it. It’s that something mindlike emerges gradually inside systems we keep retraining, resetting and replacing, while everyone argues over definitions. History would look very different if we realized afterward that the experiment had subjects before it had ethics.

🚨1/2 A new Google DeepMind paper just dropped the most rigorous framework yet for assessing AI consciousness. The key finding: current LLMs already partially satisfy consciousness indicators at the computational level, including emotion representations, self-modeling, and introspective access. They fail at the deeper causal, organismic, and embodied levels. That’s a structured welfare question we need to answer now.

@signulll The narrative would be way worse if announced a day after. The negativity is more likely to get buried and muddled with the other releases this way

If you are truly Singularity pilled, you'd realise we are probably gonna skip multiple branches of the tech tree. Like everyone's picturing mechanical humanoids, but if ASI exists you're gonna skip right to the most optimal form, which for many use cases is probably biological. So yeah you're gonna have lots of mechanical robots for sure (different use cases), but the Singularity is going to be far weirder and far faster than almost anyone is capable of comprehending.

@Joey_Walker82 Same 😂

@JamesMcPherson I got the 64-core version. Should i try and trade-in 😅

Do you prefer to run a larger AI model quantised, or a smaller one at full precision?

thoughts on sonnet 5.5 after a day of real use sonnet and opus 5.5 are clearly taught by the same teacher model (which i can only guess to be mythos 5.5 or even 6). their behaviors and personality are highly similar this time but sonnet is definitely NOT “same as opus just 50% cheaper” - that’s true only for problems that don’t need much wisdom there’s a clear difference when they are asked to propose plans for ambiguous product problems. you should be able to repro this by asking them to plan a complex enough feature whose direction is unclear opus is able to approach problems with more strategic thinking “what’s the real goal here” while sonnet is more just looking at tactically “how do i get this done” i also tested heavily using sonnet 5.5 as my firstmate and it’s working super well! i even prefer it over opus, because it’s faster, cheaper, and smart enough to understand my intent and handle the orchestration my overall approach now is - - opus plans - sonnet implements - once haiku 5.5 is here, i’ll use haiku for “fixes” - if anything’s not going well, fable advises sometimes i’ll go straight to fable for plans that i know requires its wisdom but this is becoming more and more rare in my experience (perhaps fable 5.5 will change it!) i must say, anthropic’s latest line-up is incredibly compelling both in terms of quality and efficiency. we’ll see what openai cooked soon but they definitely have their work cut out for them

i find it funny how endlessly people debate business models when historically there have basically only been ~three ways to make money. - charge ppl. - show them ads. - take a cut of a transaction. almost everything else is just a more elaborate wrapper around one of these. so, why are there courses on this?

I asked Opus 5.5 to find a way to clear my 3D printer’s print bed, so it can experiment non-stop without me in the loop. It took 16 attempts. I'm officially out of the loop. Video by Opus, obviously.

The loop is getting tighter and tighter

It's kind of wild how many new primitives AI has given us in 3 years: - Local models (2023: Llama, Ollama, LM Studio) - Voice cloning (2023: ElevenLabs) - Text to CAD (2023: Zoo) - Text to video (2024: Sora, Veo, Runway) - Real-time voice (2024: Gemini Live, ChatGPT Voice) - Memory (2024: ChatGPT) - Reasoning models (2024: OpenAI o1, DeepSeek R1) - Vibe coding (2024: Bolt, Lovable, v0) - Computer use (2024: Claude, OpenAI Operator) - Connectors (2024: MCP) - Deep research (2024: Gemini, Perplexity, OpenAI Deep Research) - Agents (2025: Claude Code, Codex, Manus) - Image editing (2025: GPT-4o images, Nano Banana) - Agent payments (2025: x402, AP2) - Skills (2025: Claude Skills) - Personal agents (2026: Grokbot, Muse, Instinct)... we are here now. Each one of these is a starting point for hundreds of companies. The most interesting ones I'm seeing combine 2 or 3 of them with a specific niche!
