Agree, and the hardest part is the "not ready yet" bucket.
In B2B events, the same account can be dead in March and urgent in September once next year's conference gets budget.
So I don't drop them, I just park them and watch for timing signals. How do you tell "not ready" from "never"?
Magnificent Seven headcount, 2020 to 2026.
Nvidia more than doubled. Meta peaked in 2022 and is still 13% below it. Amazon still hasn't returned to its 2021 high.
AI spend keeps going up. Headcount mostly doesn't. Is that the new normal for big tech?
@nickrgrs For B2C, maybe. For B2B, I don't think marketing ever gets that far ahead of sales.
Marketing gets you in the room. But there's a buying committee, procurement, security reviews, and someone whose job is on the line if it goes wrong. A monkey on that call doesn't close anything.
I rebuilt SEO + GEO on bagevent.io this month, mostly with Claude and Cursor doing the hands-on work.
Here's the full checklist, plus the things I broke along the way.
What would you add? x.com/i/article/2107…
Every B2B company is slowly becoming a media company.
Not because every SaaS needs a podcast studio and 15-person content team, but because owning distribution is becoming one of the few advantages that gets MORE valuable as everything else gets easier to replicate.
Think about how quickly a competitor can copy you now.
They can sign up for your product, reverse engineer the features, use the same underlying AI models, recreate your landing page, study every ad you're running and ship a competing feature within months.
At the same time, acquiring attention is going in the opposite direction. There are more SaaS products competing for the same buyers, more cold emails in their inboxes, more ads in the auction and an infinite amount of AI-generated content being published every day.
Now imagine two identical $2M ARR SaaS companies.
Company A has 5,000 followers across its founders, almost no email audience, nobody independently talking about the product and a growth engine where most new customers need to begin with a paid ad or outbound touch.
Company B has:
- 100,000 relevant followers across 5 executives
- 30,000 people on its email list
- 20 creators regularly talking about the product
- Customers publishing workflows they've built with it
- Thousands of ICP buyers seeing the company every week
Even if the products and revenue are identical today, I don't think these are remotely the same business.
Company B can launch a feature into an existing audience, put a new resource in front of thousands of buyers, help sales break into target accounts that already recognize the founders and eventually launch an entirely new product without starting distribution from zero.
This is why I think the B2B marketing team of the future looks less like a traditional marketing department and more like a media network.
- The CEO builds distribution with executives
- The CRO talks to revenue leaders
- Technical operators educate practitioners
-Customers show what they're building
- Partners and creators give the company access to audiences it doesn't own yet
Marketing sits underneath all of it, turning the company's best ideas into assets those people can distribute.
We've already seen how far this can go. We helped one SaaS take the same core content engine from its founder profile across roughly 10 LinkedIn accounts.
One resource generated around 6,000 comments, and they've since expanded the model to 50+ people posting around the company.
I think the question B2B companies ask over the next few years will be:
"How much of our market's attention do we own, and how many trusted people can we distribute an idea through without paying for every impression?"
An audience you've spent three years earning cannot be generated by AI or copied.
Do you still need a designer on the team?
From planning to UI — the website, the organizer console, and the app — almost every bagevent design decision went through Claude.
Curious how others are splitting this: designer + AI, or AI first and a human only at the end?
We make narrated product tutorials without a screen recorder or a video editor. Playwright + HTML + ffmpeg, all in git. Here's exactly how x.com/i/article/2107…
How we make bagevent tutorials without a screen recorder:
• Playwright scripts click through the real product
• Frames captured from the browser
• Captions, phone frame and cover are HTML, rendered with @HyperFrames
• One voice line per caption
UI changed? Re-run the script.

OPC is hard. The fun part: every time I hit something I’m bad at, I have to push one step further. After I get through it, the thing that felt impossible just… isn’t. That quiet “oh, that was it?” feeling is addictive.
