Totally understand. I originally wanted to use prayers from sources like The Valley of Vision and other historic collections, but many of them have licensing or fee requirements. I wanted to keep the app’s cost as minimal as possible. Sadly, I couldn’t find enough public-domain options. It was also important to me that each prayer align with the day’s passage as a way to model praying Scripture. I am curious, though: what specifically makes prayer a no-go for you, as opposed to commentary?

The prayers and commentary are original content developed through an AI-assisted editorial process I created. They were produced within a carefully defined historic Reformed framework (I'm reformed), rooted in Scripture, the Westminster Standards (I'm Presbyterian), and the Three Forms of Unity. The process drew from theological points of references ranging from Matthew Henry’s commentary to more modern works such as R.C. Sproul’s and John MacArthur to develop its "voice", if you will. The content then went through multiple rounds of review and correction for doctrinal consistency, biblical accuracy, and faithfulness to each passage. I personally reviewed all 1,189 prayers and passage commentaries. This is where I spent the majority of my time developing Devotus. Scripture remains the final authority, and the commentary is intended only as a devotional aid to help you understand and reflect upon the text. I believe you will find the content theologically sound and faithful to Scripture. I also know that the use of AI in this process will turn some people off, and that’s okay. No hard feelings. I’d rather be completely transparent about how Devotus was built. And I'm always willing to share more about the process, if you're interested. 🫡
